When driving down the Marginal towards Costa do Sol, you could easily miss Janela Aber-

ta as it is at the end of the row of baraccas, opposite the place where the fi shing boats are

moored.

But do give it a try as Anibal Silva and Virgilio Henriques have gone to a bit of eff ort and

expense to make the restaurant attractive inside.

Th e walls are painted in orange and there are napkins to match. Decent crockery and

cutlery was really appreciated, as was the service, as some training has obviously been given

to the staff , who brought me a fi nger bowl after I had fi nished my clams. (Th ey even used a

serviette to handle the cork on my bottle of wine).

Th ere are a couple of tables outside on the pavement with umbrellas, which are great for

enjoying a casual drink or snack. Best of all are the prices.

Th ey have also given some thought to their target market, and have kept their prices low,

and off er great value for money. 4 Samoosas or Rissois are 100Mt, half a grilled Chicken

and Chips is 160Mt and T Bone Steak is 360Mt, and you don’t mind paying 40Mt for bread,

butter and a small bowl of olives. Roast Pig is available on the take away menu for 720Mt a

kilo.

Wine prices are also very reasonable, with a bottle of Adega do Monte red or white at

300mt, and a fair selection of KWV and Portuguese wines available.

Maputo is full of surprises! After looking for some time for ballet

lessons for our girls, we were nicely surprised to fi nd one school

that is both very professional and friendly.

Dance, the school run by Yula Cisneros Montoya, works with chil-

dren and adults (yes, parents too!) of varying abilities, yet it ma-

natains high standards and rigour. Yula (or Miss Yula, as we like

to call her) has many years of experience practicing and teaching

ballet in Mozambique and abroad.

I highly recommend to check out this fantastic ballet school. And

why not you as parent join in too to keep fi t and let that imagina-

tion fl y? Remember that after all the Bolshoi is within reach to

most of us, even in our older age!

Th e range of classes includes children’s ballet (various levels),

adult ballet and body conditioning, and pilates.

FINE ARTS EXHIBITION 2011

CENTRO CULTURAL FRANCO MOCAMBICANO CCFM

Centro Cultural Franco Moçambicano (CCFM) is holding a big art exhibition and

sale entitled REENCONTRO III, with more than forty art works of fi ve Mozambi-

can painters and sculptors from 26 April to 5 May.

Th e artists Dito, Zefrino, Luis Macandza, A.M.Costa and Dalito, who all lived in

East Germany during the Cold War, will show pieces entitled Global Warming,

Terrorism, Teocentrism, Madgermanas, Th e Role of Woman in Society, Carnaval,

Dance, Love, just to cite a few.

Th e project was initiated by the Instituto Cultural Moçambique Alemanha (ICMA)

four years ago and is once more organized in partnership with ICMA/Goethe Zen-

trum Maputo and Centro Cultural Franco Moçambicano.

Th e artists will afterwards be going to Germany for a fi rst REENCONTRO exhi-

bition in June , this year with the support of Kuenstlerbund Suedsauerland in Ger-

many.

Ultimate

Ultimate is a team sport played between 2 teams of 7 people on a rectangular pitch (100 x 37 meter), with end zones for scoring at both ends of 18 meter deep.
