(CTS 10 MINUTE DIARY)

SIXTEENTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME READ: MATTHEW 13:24-43 MEDITATE We each have a natural inclination to sin, called concupiscence. But God is so patient with us that he allows us the freedom to sin. But there will come a time when everything in us that does not belong to God’s kingdom will be tested and removed.

LET US PRAY

Heavenly Father, I offer you all my thoughts, words and deeds, and even the things that I have failed to do, and I ask you to purify them.

Burn away from me everything that prevents me from loving you as you are and help me to let go. Amen

ACT Even the smallest act of kindness can have the greatest consequences in the kingdom of heaven. Never tire of doing even the simplest act of kindness with the intention of doing it to serve God’s purpose.

Scripture Champion for Leeds Diocese, Deacon Henry Longbottom, who will be co-leading BBC Radio 4’s Sunday Worship Programme this Sunday, 19th July at 8.10am. The theme is based on our ‘God who Speaks’ campaign. https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m000l1w9

Please pray for the following who request your prayers: Tom McNally, Yvonne Harris, Maria Morgan, Elizabeth, Marianne Davey, Joan Whitton, Ian Beverley, Gretta Cooper, Thea Boyd, Maisie Moyes, Dick Barnicott, Nick McKenna,

Nicole Price, Simon & Sue Stanton, Shirley Garmston, Anne Hogg, Ann Francis,

Rosina Bruen. MAY THEY BE TOUCHED BY GOD’S HEALING HAND.

‘My part, I have resolved, O Lord, is to obey your word. The law from your mouth means more to me than silver or gold.’

(Responsorial Psalm Seventeenth Sunday in Ordinary Time)

Response to the Psalm: O Lord, you are good and forgiving. Gospel Acclamation: Alleluia, alleluia! May the father of our Lord Jesus Christ enlighten the eyes of our mind, so that we can see what hope his call holds for us, Alleluia!

THE HOLY FATHER’S INTENTION FOR JULY: We pray that today’s families may be accompanied with love, respect and guidance.

From Fr. Mark…..

“Let them both grow till the harvest” We hear another of Christ’s parables today which make the conjoined point that God in his providence will use the apparent evil that attends us in life to some perfecting purpose. Out of our littleness, our emptiness, our nothingness, God’s greatness will flower in an astonishing way. There is no room in a good field for weeds and rubbish: so in the Kingdom of Heaven, there is no room for all things that provoke offences, and all who do evil . They must be removed, for the sake of the good wheat, for the sake of the good subjects of the kingdom. But this weeding out will not take place until harvest time in case one piece of good wheat is destroyed with the weeds. This shows the mercy of God: everyone has chance after chance to prove that they are wheat, not darnel; there are no quick judgements in the kingdom of heaven, and things are never as black and white as we think. Only at the end of time will evil stand out clearly, so that it can be disposed of, and only the Son of Man can judge. Other News…. It was lovely to welcome you back for private prayer. Many thanks to those who volunteered as stewards; without you the reopening was not possible. The Church has been laid out with a one-way system in place and with specific places for you to sit. Stewards will be in attendance to assist you. Please adhere to the strict social distancing guidelines and use the hand sanitiser provided. Please be advised you will not be able to light votive candles. Also the toilets in the Hall and Church are closed. I know it is not normal to “book” to come to Church but we are not living in normal times. As only a limited number can be allowed into the Church for a particular time, please contact Elizabeth to book your prayer time. If you have any symptoms of COVID-19 please stay home. If you are shielding or living with someone who is, please stay home. Let us give thanks and praise to God for the Welsh Government have announced that we can “gradually resume services” when we are ready and able to comply with the necessary ‘Covid Safe’ guidelines. We are, once again, not able to open the doors and resume “normal service”. There are many guidelines and requirements to adapt the liturgy for the celebration of Mass. I look forward to welcoming in the near future and taking care of your spiritual needs, but we must do so whilst also showing concern for your physical health. It took over 12hrs of work for Our Lady & St. Illtyd to be certified as Covid-safe for private prayer; the requirements for reopening our churches for public worship are numerous and extensive with further risk assessments to complete. More volunteers are needed to help steward and clean the Church. If you are below the age of 70 with no underlying health issues and willing to volunteer, please contact us. If you are over 70 years, vulnerable to the virus, shielding or living with someone who is, unfortunately you are unable to volunteer at present. At this time given the layout of St. Cadoc’s Church and the restrictions under which we are working, i.e. stewards under the age of 70, 2m social distancing rule and a one way system, it is not possible to open. Please remain patient, stay safe in God’s love and care.
