tory, the Monmouth 'Oaks has a brilliant record both asa feature of old Monmouth Park from 1871 through1893 and since the opening of modern Monmouth in1946.
. In the modern history of the race, Eddie Arcaro hasplayed a stellar role, winning on five occasions withFirst Flight, Adile, Siami, Evening Out and Misty Morn.
Teacation won the 1960 renewal of the Oaks add-ing her name to a remarkably fine list of three-year-oldfillies whose names have graced the winners' roster.The group includes -Royal Native, A Glitter, Romanita,levee, Misty Morn, Evening Out and Grecian Queen, to"name a few of the more recent winners.

HOW PHOTO-FINISH CAMERA OPERATESThe finish of each race and the placing of each
horse is confirmed by the photo-finish camera.As the nose of each horse touches the finish line the
picture of the horse is made. The photo of no horse isrecorded by the camera until his or her nose is actuallyright on the wire. The pictures are correct to the mostminute degree with no chance of error.
No horse in any place on the track can be favoredas no impression can be taken until each horse hits thefinish, thus neither the "inside" nor "outside" horsecan ever be favored by the camera.

Rule 366. When two or more horses run in a race, and are coupled because ofcommon ties, they are called an \\Entry" and a wager on one of them shall be awager on all of them.
Rule 374. If an error is made in posting the pay-off figures on the publicboard, it shall be corrected promptly and only the correct amounts shall be usedin the pay-off irrespective of the error on the public board. If because of mechan-ical failure it is impossible to promptly correct the posted pay-off a statementshall be made over the public address system stating the facts and corrections.
Rule 39s(a). In the case of a dead heat for second in the Place Pool, thewinner of the race receives its half share of the profits in that Pool; and each of thetwo horses that dead heat for second receive one-half of the remaining half of theprofits.
Rule 39s(b). In the case of a dead heat for third or "Show" In the ShowPool the first and second horses each receive a normal one-third of the profits in thatpoor; and the two horses that dead heat for third each receive one-half of theremaining third of the profits.
Rule 39s(cl. Where two or more horses racing for one interest or Field horsesparticipate in dead heats, each horse of the Entry or Field is entitled to his pro-portionate share of the profits in the pool in which the dead heat occurs and theother pools aflected. For example: Where two horses of an Entry or Field "deadheat" for Straight, the Straight and Place prices are calculated as Straight pools,and the Entry is entitled to two-thirds of the profits of the Show Pool.
Rule 39s(dl. Where two or more horses of an Entry or Field figure in a deadheat, or multiple dead heats in one race, each horse of the Entry or Field par-ticipating gets his proportionate award of the profits in whatever pool, or pools,are affected by the dead heat or dead heats. The sum of the total profits in each0001 for the Entry or Field is then used as a dividend to calculate the pay-off pricefor said Entry or Field in that pool.
Sec. 28. "Every permit that shall be granted for the holding of a horse racemeeting shall be upon the express condition and agreement that no person shall beadmitted as a spectator without the payment of an admission fee .•• and thatno free passes shall be issued, etc" etc.
Sec. 44. "All sums held by any permit holder (track) for payment of Outstand- ,ing Pari-Mutuel Tickets not claimed by the person or persons entitled thereto !within sixty (60) days from the time such tickets are issu,d shall be paid to the JCommission upon the expiration of such sixty-day holding period." I
1Rule 361. No person under the age of 16 shall be admitted to any race
track enclosure as a soectator during the hours when the running of races is beingconducted. No person under the age of 21 shall be permitted to wager or in anymanner participate in any pari·mutuel pool or system.
Rule 482. The Stewards are vested with power to determine the extent ofdisqualifications in cases of fouls. They may place the offending horse behind suchhorses as in their judgment it interfered with, or they may place it last.
Rule 378. If a horse is left at the post at off-time there shall be no refundbut if one horse or more is prevented from leaving the post at off~time because ofbeing locked in the gate, the money wagered on said horse or horses so locked inthe gate shall be deducted from the pool and be refunded.
Rule 363. Any claim by a person that a wrong ticket has been delivered tohim must be made before leaving the mutuel ticket Window; no claims will beconsidered thereafter and no claim shall be considered for tickets thrown away,lost, changed, destroyed or mutilated beyond identification. Payment of wagers willbe made only on presentation of appropriate pari-mutuel tote tickets.
Rule 396(hl. If a horse in the first haif of the Daily Double is excused by theStewards before off-time, all money wagered on any horse or horses so excusedshall be deducted from the Daily Double Pool and be refunded to the purchaser orpurchasers of tickets on the horse or horses so excused.
