PRESENTATION

University Paris II Panthéon-Assas sets a new LL.M. course leading to an LL.M. in EU Economic Law.

The course will be conducted in Thessaloniki at the premises of the Centre of International and European Economic Law (CIEEL).

The proposed course is designed to attract candidates with a strong academic or professional interest in European law, especially from Balkan countries, which are candidates for accession to the EU, as well as to students from Bulgaria and Romania.

The diploma granted to graduates is a “Diplôme d'Université en droit économique de l'U.E. / LL.M. in E.U. Economic Law” of the University Paris II Panthéon-Assas.

The two official teaching languages of the course are French and English. Applicants must be able to use one of the two languages as the main working language (C1 level) and to understand the second teaching language (B2 level).

The duration of the LL.M. is one academic year and comprises two semesters. The students will have 180 hours of teaching per semester.

ADMISSION-SELECTION

PROGRAM

LL.M. is accessible to students with a very good academic level, holding a law degree in their country of origin, with at least 240 ECTS credits.

Candidates submit their application files, including all the necessary information, to CIEEL. Paris II will establish the equivalence of academic qualifications for the admission of candidates.

The LL.M. course consists of 6 mandatory seminars per year. Students will have 20 hours of classes per week. Each semester will consist of 13 weeks, 12 of which will be devoted to teaching and the last one to exams. The total duration of each seminar is 60 hours.

The teaching staff will consist of professors from Paris II Panthéon-Assas University as well as from CIEEL.

First Semester: General EU Law (15 September - 15 December)

1) The judicial system of the European Union: Pr. Vassilios Skouris, Pr. Vassilios Christianos.

2) Freedom of movement in the EU: Pr. Fabrice Picod.

3) EU competition law: Pr. Laurence Idot and Pr. Emmanuelle Claudel, Dr. Eftychia Mouameletzi.

Second Semester: European Union's area of freedom, security and justice (15 January - 15 April)

1) Protection of fundamental rights in the EU: Pr. Francesco Martucci, Pr. Christina Deliyianni-Dimitrakou.

2) Mutual trust in the European area of freedom, security and justice (AFSJ), in particular mutual recognition and enforcement of judicial decisions within the EU: Pr. Evangelos Vasilakakis.

3a) Migration law and the rights of foreigners in the EU: Pr. Edouard Dubout, Dr. Virginia Tzortzi.

Preparatory courses (1 - 15 September)
