U.S. Coast Guard (USCG ) requirements for Non-Tank Vessels

Summary of USCG requirements
Ships affected
Any self-propelled vessel other than oil tanker > 400 gt, carrying oil as
fuel, entering U.S. waters.
Requirements of 33CFR parts 151, 155, 160:
1. Owners /operators to submit Non-Tank Vessel Response Plans (NTVRP).
2. Vessels > 340 m3 FO capacity: NTVRP to name contracted provider of damage stability and strength assessment services
3. Timeframe given for damaged stability / strength assessments:
• 3 hours to start calculations
• 12 /18 hours to complete, for near / offshore areas.
Time line: comparison of pre-modelled and not pre-modelled
Are all plans available, as needed to create model? Lines plan may not be: most yards will only give hull data to Class.
All plans instantly available for response
Model from plans to industry standards. Pre-modelling of complex or high FO
capacity ships benefit most.
Salvor / resource provider may not have model
