LMU 4230 - EZ installThis installation guide will walk you through the installation of an LMU 4230 - EZ Install. EZ
install means NO power distribution connections are made (no 3 wire). The LMU 4230 is
also an internal antenna device.

Step 1 — Identification
4 pin Power harness connection
Not used for EZ install!22 pin I/O connection
Used for any optional inputs 1-7 and temp probeDiagnostic cable connection

Step 4 — EZ Install - Antenna
Find a place for the device to be
installed
Make sure device is not
crowded, diagnostic cable can
not have any stress at the
connection.
Top of device should have clear
line of sight to the outside of
vehicle.
The device will typically work
through plastics, glass, and
composites
Do NOT place device directly
under metal!
Device should be mechanically
secured I.E. - screws, velco,
wire ties

Step 5 — EZ Install - Diagnostic Cable
Remove OEM DLC (Data Link Connector)
Plug the OEM DLC into the diagnostic Y cable included in the kit
Twist to lock connection.
Connection will "CLICK" when locked
Install Diagnostic Y cable DLC in OEM location
Run diagnostic cable to where device is to be secured
Secure cable along the way, staying clear of any moving parts
Step 6 — Special diagnostic cables
Some vehicles may require
specialized diagnostic cables. See
below for examples.

Step 7 — EZ Install - Connecting the device
Connect the diagnostic cable
Once LEDs are solid secure the device
Ensure there is no stress on Diagnostic cable connection
Step 8 — Optional Parts - Inputs
If inputs are needed a connectorized harness or unpopulated I/O plug and input wires are
required
Inputs do not require 4 pin power (3 wire) to be installed
Pin may need to be inserted (see LMU 4225 Diagram for locations)
Locations 1 & 22 are identified
Input wire gets inserted pin seam facing plug latch
Inputs should switch between (-) and (+) or (-) and open polarityA relay may be required for installation. See links at top of page for PTO relay examples.

Step 9 — Optional Parts
Temp probe
Does not require 4 pin power harness to be installed, but does need 22 pin i/o plug.Blue lead connects to location 8
Input wires requiredBrown lead connects to black wire from location 11
Drive safe plugs into AUX 1
