Cheyenne JosephLocation Recce
Client: RadoxProduction Title: Radox ‘Shower Smoothies’ advert.
My first location: School classroom
Positives- The classroom will be good to use as I will be able to illustrate
the boredom that the actor feels as she is stuck in a lesson that she wants to leave.
- Another positive about using the classroom is that classrooms are normally well lit; therefore I will have no problem with
lighting for that scene.
Negatives-As some students may not want to be filmed or even included in
the background of the shot. This may be a problem for my advert as it is important to show how boring the class may be.
Second location: School corridor
Positives- This location is needed in order for me to illustrate her exit of
the school and to show the rush of the students as they all exit their lessons too, illustrating how frustrating it can be.
- Since the school corridors are very well lit during the day, lighting will not be a problem for me, hence making my job easier as I would not have to carry extra lighting tools and
equipment.
Negatives- Since Thomas Tallis School is filled with students who are
unaware of the advert being filmed, it is likely that some of the students may be distracted by the fact that something is
being filmed which may cause them to purposely interrupt the shooting. –
- Again, some students may not want to be filmed in the background which proposes a problem for me as it is
important for students to be included in the background.
Third location: London bus
Why I need this Location : I will have the actress on a bus busier than this photo, but in this
exact angle. The reason I chose this was because this is an everyday situation that can sometimes cause passengers frustration
when very busy, this will be perfect for my advert as I have to illustrate a young woman having a long stressful day and now
embarking on another stressful situation.
Negative:-As this is a public bus and I do not have the money or manpower to hire a bus and hire a crew to be in the background, so there will be general public in the background on the bus. I will try to un-focus
them as much as I can so their faces are not shown too much but it is essential for me to have a busy bus.
-It may be hazardous for the equipment since a busy bus might in danger of being pushed or knocked by the passengers but I will
ensure as much as possible that this does not happen.
Fourth Location: Busy tube/train.
Positives- The reason I have chosen to use this location is because I
believe that I can illustrate the business of today’s lifestyle and show the everyday frustration that occurs within the transport. This is important for my advert as it will help
contribute to the illustration of the main character having a very stressful day.
- Another reason is the lighting. Lighting is important as it enhances the quality of the video in some cases. Since the Tube is always well lit, I will not need to bring a Pag light to
the scene and therefore everything will be clear and bright in the video.
Negatives
Since The London transport will be filled with the general public, some may not want to be seen within the advert, so I must make
sure I get the least amount of faces possible but still enable the idea of the tube/ bus being full. If I am unable to do so, I will just have to get a shot of the actor/actress on their own but making it clear that
they are on some sort of transport.
Fifth Location:Greenwich Park
Positives- This location is great for the scene where I illustrate freedom
and relaxation as it is bright and allows numerous possible ways for me to do so.
Negatives -Even though this scene will perfectly illustrate the point that I am trying to make within my advert, this all depends on the weather. ( which we know can sometimes be unpredictable)
as it is the wintery, cold season there are possibilities for rain and snow and that might determine whether I use this scene
or not.
Sixth Location:Cheyenne Joseph’s Household/Bathroom
Positives- Since it will be my house where these house scenes are
filmed, it is obviously a lot easier to use and get hold of. - The house is the perfect location since the layout of the house
itself is perfect for the scenes needed.
Negatives- The lighting in the house is not entirely good and some shots
may take colour correction and adjustments if there is no additional lighting added.
Health hazard:- When filming the bath scene, there will be a large number of
water in the tub and as I will be filming an overhead, long shot view of it, I need to be careful and ensure that the camera is
secure and that it won’t fall in the bath tub.- Also, since there may be water on the floor as the actor exits
the bath tub, I need to ensure that it is dried up immediately since actors may slip and injure themselves and that could
also mean damage to the equipment.
