Location Report

1 – The Hull Cenotaph

The war memorial in Hull is often seen as a place of reflection and remembrance. This suits the short film because the character is reflecting on her life and remembering the events that led to her being in the state that she is. She is also paying respects to her loved ones that tragically died in an accident.

2 – Martin’s Alley

This area is located behind fruit music club down Humber Street. I chose this location because of the art on the wall. There were a few places in Hull that had the graffiti on the walls but the wall art in this location gave a psychedelic feel to the film; this turned out to give a great effect in the medium close-ups.

3 – Further down Martin’s Alley

This is the same location as the last one but just further along. Along arrival at the location I discovered that the alley was quite a tattered and warn down one. The alley reflects the state of the characters mind and how she is broken and warn down emotionally. Filming in this location was a conscience decision of mine because it also reflects the mood of the film I wanted to have.

4 – Nelson Street

Quite a lot of my shots were taken behind the deep, there is a docking area that looks out on the Humber estuary. This again was a conscience decision to film here because of the location being one where someone can go and reflect. This still is the final image of the short film, just before she ends her life. There was a section where you can sit over the water, I got a low angle shot from this little ledge which gave me the effect of the character being very high up.
