A total of three locations are needed for the Axe man. Our opening starts with the character of Charlotte (the victim) jogging down a rubbly path way into a forest whilst jogging, she hears a twig snap however she decides to continue jogging into the forest, when she continues jogging the audience are lead to the second location where she stops to tie her shoe laces but is brutally murdered from behind. After this the audience are introduced to our third where our witness Nate spots the killer from a bridge.

Location 1

Location 1 is an isolated area the audience will know this because there are no houses in the surrounding area. In addition to this the logs on the edge of the path create the sense of entrapment. This creates the sense of that there is no escape, this could make the audience feel on edge as when Charlotte enters the frame they will see Charlotte as a vulnerable character which could lead them to feel empathetic towards her. This is as the isolation of the area creates the sense of loneliness and being helpless.

Hostel

This is our second location where Charlotte jogs into the forest and then ties up her shoe laces, where the killer (the axe man) then sneaks up behind her and uses his axe to tear apart her body.

Location 2

The location which Charlotte jogs into has a clear transition from being open to being enclosed which creates isolation which reflects the isolation of Charlotte. In addition this creates the fear of the unknown which the audience are first introduced to when they see a close up of the Axeman’s eyes under a mask. This location will increase the audience’s fear not only their own personal feel but fear for the character of Charlotte.

After seeing this new location and how it switch's from an open area to an enclosed area, the audience will

subconsciously associate this with other slashers they have watched such as hostel where the victims are

then killed in these enclosed areas which will build up suspense and tension for them.

Location 3

We decided to use the bridge as it represents the difference between normality and insanity and how the character entering has entered into a world of fear. We thought that this location would clearly convey how the area becomes isolated as soon as you cross into it, this

then increases the suspense and tension, which we want the audience to feel throughout the film.

This is our final location where the character Nate spots the killer from on top of this bridge.

The Evil Dead.

After seeing this the audience will realise that the character of Nate is going into the isolated area as it will remind them of other horrors they have watched like Evil dead where as they cross the bridge they enter this dangerous isolated area which they cannot return from.
