Location shots This is the barn which I will be using for my prison cell scene. I have decided to change the location from which this scene was going to be set because I felt that this location would be more efficient. This is because it is in the forest and therefore fits with the rest of the film that this film is situated in a forest. Furthermore this barn gives a rural look with the wooden beams and boards. The fact that this prison looks relatively smaller compared to stereotypical prisons could imply that the criminal is locked away or separated from others which could indicate that the crime he has committed is serious.

Location shots

This is the barn which I will be using for my prison cell scene.

This is a picture of the barn from the outside looking at the window and door. The fact that the window is barred is similar to the stereotypical windows that are in prisons and implies that although they can see light ‘at the end of the tunnel’ there is something blocking their way which metaphorically would be the sentence that they have been given but physically the bars of the window. This rural image is also highlighted again as the wooden beams and outside door gives us this image of the forest. Furthermore the barn is dark colours with green moss on the roof. This gives an impression of camouflage and could be associated with the idea that it doesn’t stand out and therefore the people inside are thought to be minorities.

This is what the barn looks like inside. The iron corrugated roofing brings about this idea of security and connotes that the people inside will struggle the escape reinforcing that idea of ‘being locked away’. At the top of the roof you can see a small hole which is letting in the light. This again shows that limited light idea and that the light is at the end of the tunnel however as before there is an obstacle in the way and in this case, the height. Again you are able to see wooden features such as the beams and sides of the building which further implies that this is suited in a rural area and therefore fits in with the rest of the film opening.

Finally this picture is of the actual room where the prison cell scene will be filmed. This room has a mixture of brick and wood surrounding the room. This mixture of building materials alone contrasts to the audience that idea of this prison cell being in a rural area and the bricks at the bottom could imply that there is no way of getting out so therefore they are stuck in there until their sentence is over. Because the barn has thick walls this makes the inside darker which could be a metaphor for how the people inside the prison are feeling.
