TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF SALERams will be sold at the price stated in the catalogue. Prices will be increased in the

sale ring or in the pen, which will be recorded by a member of staff and passed to the payment desk. All rams purchased must be paid in full on the day before receiving a movement licence and pass. If rams are to be collected at a later date this will have

to be cleared with staff and will be done at the buyers own risk.

GENERAL INFORMATION OF SALE

2012 SEES THE 7TH ANNUALLOGIE DURNO RAM SALE

Below is a list showing how the sale will work.Viewing of Rams starts at 5pm with the sale starting at 6pm.

There will be catalogues available which will show all the general information for each ram and all signet EBV data on performance along with the price.

Rams will be penned in groups of 5.Each ram in a pen will be the same price and breed.

At 6pm there will be an auction of the first pens of each breed giving the chance for bidding in £25 steps. This will happen in the main ring. Following this all rams apart

from the ones sold will be sold in their pens at the price stated in the catalogue.

While in the pen if a buyer shows interest in a ram it will be made public to the surrounding group of buyers that this ram is for sale. If there are no

other buyers interested it will be sold for the stated price. If there is another interested buyer than the price will rise in £25 steps until a buyer is found.

Once a ram is purchased the buyer will receive a slip showing the lot number and the price of the ram. This slip will need to be taken to the payment desk. There the cashier will take the cheque and give the buyer a movement document and a pass.

Buyers will be required to have information ready when approaching the payment desk. A copy of their CPH number and Vehicle Registration.

This sale does offer the facility for buyers to leave a ram at the farm to be collected at a later date. However this will need to be cleared with staff and is at the buyers own risk.

All sheep at Logie Durno Farm are part of a flock health plan which complies with the current Defra regulations.

Shearling rams which come from this flock

therefore have excelled and past every

selection hurdle, in a system that their

offspring are likely to be reared in. It makes

sense to buy a ram that has thrived on

grass, if that is what your own lambs eat.

All Durno Hybrid rams for sale today have been

presented off grass with no dressing. As an

aid for selection these rams were back fat

scanned like the terminal rams available

throughout the sale, giving Estimated Breeding

Values (EBV`s) for all terminal sire traits recorded

by signet. These figures should be used as an

aid for selection by buyers . A helpful tip is to

look at your own flock and select on individual

traits to advance your flock, for example if you

want to finish lambs quickly then select for a

high 8wk and scan weight EBV. At Logie Durno

we have been actively selecting for average

or positive fat depths to allow lambs with

extreme growth rates to fatten at the

correct time and not go over weight.

The Durno Hybrid is a terminal composite sire

produced exclusively by Logie Durno Sheep,

based on its unique breeding, selection and

management features. Terminal sires like the

Durno Hybrid are designed to be used across

any ewe giving their offspring increased;

hybrid vigour, growth rate and saleable

meat. Durno Hybrid rams contain 50% Charollais

genetics and 50% Texel genetics. The Charollais

part of this equation provides this hybrid line

with length, high growth rate and tremendous

conformation in an easily lambed package.

The inclusion of the Texel bloodline gives

offspring hardiness, gigot and easy fleshing,

making the Durno Hybrid ideal for most ewes.

The parent stock of Durno Hybrid rams are

lambed in April in a system just like any flock

producing fat lambs. At lambing time they

are recorded in the unique Logie Durno way

providing customers with both signet breeding

values and physical data of lambing ease,

hardiness and vigour at birth.
