INITIAL IDEAS
The concept of the project is to educate students at Key Stage 3 age groups between 11 to 14. The science subject area will be presented through an interactive Adobe Flash website this will help with their home works and exams.
The logo ideas I decided on using were related to the natural disasters which relates to science. I researched different formal and informal logos and created my own sketches and developed these further using Adobe Illustrator. The ideas and logo designs are shown below. My first ideas on the logo was to keep it simple and formal but this didn’t relate so well to the needs of the brief therefore after getting some feedback I decided on having more informal logo ideas and I did this by looking at few cartoon images and compared this by real images and decided on using cartoon theme logo as it looks user friendly. I choose to relate my logo to volcanic explosion theme colours as it relates well to natural disasters. Eventhough I think the logos I have created doesnt look very professional I think it fits in well with my ideas as I want to create a cartoon themed website.

LOGO SKETCHES
These are the logo ideas I’ve came up with. Some of them were very simple and formal whereas the others were not. The first ideas I came up with were mainly focusing on the letters and how those logos can be used in different effects and shapes, but after asking for some feedback I realised the logos were not relating to the subject therefore I started on new research such as the topic I have chosen for this project which is Natural Disasters. Therefore I decided to use volcanic eruption design on my logo as it relates to the topic well and meets the assignment criteras.

DEVELOPMENT STAGES
The first ideas I created was to keep it simple and colourful but wasnt relating to the science topic. I used Adobe Illustrator to crete these logos. For my logos i used many different gradient colours for the background of the logo in order to decide on which one would be the most appropriate and effient one to use.
With my development stages I used a variation of gradient backgrounds to choose the most efficient and relavent one logo idea. The main fonts I used throughout the logos were Gill Sans Ultra Bold for (BRAIN) and for (BLASTER) I used Bauhaus 93 as I thought these combinations works well together.

FINAL LOGO
To come to a final decision on my logo I had to decide on the logo that received best feedback and develop further stages in order to find the most effective logo. I used various gradient colours and glow on the logo. After asking for more feedback I came to the conclusion of using colourful logo which relates more to the topic I have chosen for this assignment. I liked the final decision as I believe it will work well with the interactive flash website design. I choose these colours and design to relate back to volcanic eruption and it is cartoon themed because I wanted to present a friendly and fun logo to students aged 11 to 14. Eventhough my logo doesn't have dark colours and it is not formal and as professional I believe it works well and meets the criteria of the brief.

MISUSE AND SPACING
When using the logo in different promotional materials or in any other places it is important that the logo remains consistant therefore further adjustments should not be made. EventhoughI have not shown this in every aspect it provides a clear idea why the adjustments should not be made.

The spacing should always be kept clear when the logo is placed on any promotional material for example when used on the website the logo should be placed on the top left hand side and kept free of space in order for the logo to stand out from other graphics, text. photographs.
TYPOGRAPHY & PROMOTIONAL MATERIALS
Using a combination of Gill Sans Ultra Bold and Bauhaus 93 in BrainBlaster logo gives a friendly and cartoony feel. I think the fonts that I have chosen are modern and clear to present.
