WHAT’S ON DURING TERM 2 2014
Preschool program: We have a 15 hour Preschool (Kindergarten) program, staffed by DECD (Department for Education & Child Development) Staff for the 4 terms prior to the child’s school starting date. (Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander or special needs children are entitled to early entry please phone centre for details 83826161)Long Day Childcare: We are open from 7.00am to 6.00pm Monday to Friday and offer half day, full day, full week, lunch care and casual sessions for children aged 6 weeks of age until they start school. We are an approved childcare service that operates under the Child Care Management System (CCMS) so if eligible you can claim CCB (Child Care Benefit), CCR (Child Care Rebate) & JFA (Jobs, Education and Training Child Care fee assistance) as a weekly reduction to your fees payable. We have a cook to allow your child/ren to enjoy a yummy healthy lunch plus we also supply nappies. Scholarships are available to eligible families.Coffee N Chat: Start the week with a coffee, friendly faces and an opportunity to network with other parents/carers. Children under school age welcome under parent/carer supervision.Motivating Mummies: A health and wellbeing group for mums and carers of students attending Hackham West R-7 School includes fitness, nutrition, self-esteem and wellness. Come and join our friendly supportive group. (Other mums and carers may attend but must talk to Louise beforehand)Autism Support Group, Southern Family Connection: An opportunity to chat, link and have a coffee in a safe and friendly environment. This group is for parents/grandparents and carers who have family members with an Autism Spectrum Disorder and/or other developmental disability. No formal diagnosis required and all welcome!Playdough Workshop: How to make it and create with it. Want to learn how to make Playdough, it’s cheaper than buying it. Homemade Playdough is brighter, softer and easier to use than purchased Playdough and is a wonderful activity you can undertake with your child/ren. Followed by Muffin & Coffee time for parents/carers.Family Express: Free family fun activities provided in collaboration with Hackham West Community Centre. Walk & Talk: For families and children of the Children’s Centre. Join us as we walk and talk together (weather permitting), a great way to spend some quality time with your child during a relaxed walk around the local area.Baby Play: for children in the Koalas room during the am session to have an opportunity to sing, play and enjoy some new experiences provided by Johanna the Occupational Therapist. Foodie Friends: For Children of the Children’s Centre with families welcome to join in. Supported by Southern Primary Health and allows children to investigate food and try new tastes.Circle of Security Parenting: is a parenting program that develops deeper richer relationships between parents/families and their children. It helps both parent and child by providing environments and experiences which will support their interactions and enrich their relationships.MyTime Parents Group: This group provides support for mums and dads caring for children with a disability or chronic medical condition (birth-16 years). Provides an opportunity for ‘time out’, to socialise and share ideas with others about issues relating to your caring role. Morning tea and a free crèche for children birth - 5 years provided.MyTime for Grandparents Group: This program supports grandparents who are the primary carers of children up to age 18 years with a disability or medical condition. Provides an opportunity for group ‘time out’, to socialise and share ideas with others. Lunch and free crèche for children birth - 5 years provided. Connecting with the school through books: For families and children of the Children’s Centre. Join us as we work with the year 6/7 children from the school, they will either visit us or we will walk to the school library to visit them (weather permitting).Sleep Workshop: come and join our Occupational Therapist for a free workshop on Children’s sleep. Good sleep habits are essential to children’s healthy development. Although sleep is a time to rest and recuperate, there is in fact a lot of activity taking place inside the body and brain.In the Moment: Activities to support the Children’s Centre programs in Preschool and Childcare facilitated by Milan.Family time fun: An interactive session for parents/carers aimed at enriching the wellbeing of families through play (2 weeks before the school holidays so you can get some great ideas) Crèche can be provided.Playgroup: Come meet others and spend some quality time with your child while they grow and learn in a friendly environment. Children aged 0 to school age welcome. Free snack provided.Q&A on Kids: Is an opportunity for parents, carers and Children’s Centre staff to speak with allied health workers about any concerns or questions regarding children’s talking, listening, eating, sleeping, body movements, play, behaviour or anything to do with children and parents/carers. Participants are provided with social support, newsletters and recognition for reaching walking milestones.
