May Logos Baptist Church (Mississauga) be your spiritual home. Church Affairs 1. The Chinese New Year Celebration for the Cantonese Congregation is held this Saturday at 5:30pm. There will be Chinese Orchestra, singing contest, and dance performance, prize draw, sharing, and message. Dinner Cuisine will be served in basin. Tickets are now sold out. 2. There will be an English Gospel Night on Friday, February 14 th at 7:30pm. The speaker is Mr. Nathan Betts from Ravi Zacharias International Ministries. The topic is “Can we find true love? Observations on a conversation between Christ and an outsider”. Please invite your friends, classmates or relatives to come. 3. 2014 (Joint) Logos Baptist Church – Joint Mission STM to Xian, China: China Short Term Mission (STM) will be held on Aug. 14 th – 25 th . A team of 10- 12 people will be led by Pastor Tom Ho to carry out ESL teaching and lay leader training in the local churches in Fuping villiage, Xian, China. The duration of the whole trip will be 14 days. The estimated fee of the trip is about $2500 per person. The deadline will be April 30 th , on a first-come-first-served basis. The request for subsidy (up to a maximum of one third of the total fee which is estimated to be $800) will be required to submit along with the application. STM format and requirements are given as follows: Format: ESL for around 100 children between Grades 7 – 9 (age 12-14). Camp Duration – 4.5 to 5 full days overnight camps. Recruiting requirements: A. Member of our church and age 18 or above; B. Has equipped with evangelism training (EE or personal evangelism training); C. Has a burden in sharing the gospel (past participations in evangelistic ministries). Teachers (5): Mature Christians with previous teaching experience in children ministry such as Sunday school or VBS. Mandarin (good enough to communicate with teens) & English bilingual. Teaching Assistance (7): College/University students or currently employed. Mandarin & English bilingual and teaching/assistance experience preferred. Church Training 1. “The Ten Steps of Biblical Interpretation” (Cantonese & Mandarin): There will be a review gathering (total of 10). The first one will be held on Monday, February 10 th , from 7:30pm-9:30pm at church. Rev. Johann Lai will be using SKYPE to share with us on the application of “The Ten Steps of Biblical Interpretation”. The purpose is to use this tool for sharing and applying to build up Discipleship Teachers. We encourage all brothers & sisters who attended the retreat to join. (Church council members, cell group members, and adult & children Sunday school teachers: please reserve your time to attend).
