In Europe, about 95% of the semi-trailers are incompatible with conventional combined transport and cannot be transported on the rail network.LOHR Railway System is specially designed for the horizontal loading of 4 m high standard semi-trailers on the European rail network.

• Low profi le and articulated wagons for the fast, secure and horizontal trans-shipment of semi-trailers.

• No on-board motor or cylinders.

• Pockets of the wagons rotated using the ground equipment in the terminal.

HORIZONTAL LOADING

A Lohr terminal is made up of stations with devices for loading and unloading the wagon pockets (pockets turning - opening).The size of the terminal and the number of stations depend on the number of departures to be processed per day.

• Small terminal: a smaller-sized terminal (about 2 to 10 stations) and a reduced cost, which can be fitted on a pre-existing site with the minimum amount of civil engineering work.

• Medium terminal: a medium-sized terminal (about 20 stations) can simultaneously open all the pockets of a half-sized train. This type of terminal offers a good cost/performance ratio in terms of investment as well as good processing capacity.

• Full terminal: a large-size terminal (about 30 to 40 stations) can simultaneously open all the pockets on a full sized train. This type of terminal offers the highest level of performance and the greatest processing capacity.

• 5 to 20% more transport semi-trailer capacity per train compared to other systems.

• Lohr wagons have already travelled more than 10 million kilometres and transported about 100,000 semi-trailers per year ever since the start of commercial services in 2003.

• Excellent and proven reliability in real, intense and heavy duty operating conditions.

• Redundancy in the terminal thanks to modularity of the loading/unloading devices.

• Standard rail components.

• The Lohr UIC wagon is compatible with the vertical loading of cranable semi-trailers in a conventional combined terminal.

The Lohr TEN homologated UIC wagon is able to cross all freight corridors of the European network (Trans-European Network).
