The 2012 Olympics will be held on the 27th July and end on 12th August. It is official known as the games of XXX Olympiad.

There are lots of venues for the Olympics. There is a venue for each sport and some sports are in the same place, here are the venues:

Over the next 43 slides, count them, I will be telling you about what each venue is going to host; I will give you some background information and there will pictures as well.

The Aquatics Centre will be hosting the following sports: Diving, Swimming, Modern Pentathlon and Synchronized Swimming. The Aquatics Centre was designed by, international architect, Zaha Hadid. The Aquatics Centre is one of the permanent venues specially made for London 2012. Work on the centre began July 2008 and it finished in July 2011.

The Basketball Arena is hosting the following sports: Basketball and Handball. The new Basketball Arena is one of the biggest temporary venues that has ever been built for the Games. This Arena is going to be one of the most used venues; there will be at least more than on sport going there everyday.

The new BMX Track is based right near the Velodrome in the North area of Olympic Park. The track is slightly larger than a football pitch. The BMX Track designer made a fast and difficult course, which includes the following: an 8m ramp to start with, continued by jumps bumps and tightly built corners. It took around 6 months to complete and it was just in time for the test run.

Box Hill will be hosting the following sport: Cycling Road. Box Hill is at the bottom of North Downs in Surrey; that is about 30km south east from London. Box Hill will be seen a lot in the Olympic Road Cycling Road Race route along with the men doing 9 laps of the Box Hill course and the women doing 2.

City of Convert Stadium is hosting the following sport: Football. City of Convert Stadium id home to Championship football club. Convert Stadium is one, out of six, stadiums all over the country to be hosting the London 2012 Olympics Football match. It was built in 2005 and was officially opened by Dame Kelly Holmes and former sports minister Richard Carborn. No building was needed for the stadium.

The Copper Box will be hosting the following sports: Handball and Modern Pentathlon. It was built on July 2009 and was the 3rd venue to be completed on May 2011. This venue is very flexible with a seating that can change the size of the floor.

The sport taking place here is also Cycling but it is a time trial. Many roads have closed due to the event that will take place.

Earls Court will be hosting the following sport: Volleyball. Before it was built Earls Court was a huge waste ground. The idea about bring entertainment came from an entrepreneur John Robinson Whitley, who then went and used it as a show ground for many years.

Eton Dorney will be hosting the following sports: Canoe sprint and Rowing. Eton Dorney is set in a 400-acre park within a nature conservation. It is located 25miles from west of London.

ExCel will be hosting the following sports: Boxing, Fencing, Judo, Taekwondo, Table Tennis, Weightlifting and Wrestling. ExCel is the largest competition venue the games. No building was needed for Excel's 5 arenas.

Greenwich Park will be hosting the following sports: Equestrian and Modern Pentathlon. Greenwich Park is the oldest Royal Park, going back to 1433. It is located 20 minutes from central London.

Hadleigh Farm will be hosting the following sport: Cycling mountain bike. Building work began on the Mountain Bike in July 2010 and was finished March 2011.

The event that is taking place here is Athletics. There are no tickets required for this event. There will be some road closures for this event.

Hampden Park will be hosting the following sport: Football. It celebrated its centenary on 31 October 2003.

Hampton Court Palace will be hosting the following sport: Cycling. Hampton Court Palace was built during the 16th and 17th centuries.

Horse Guards Parade will be hosting the following sport: Beach Volleyball. It is located right on the Prime Minister’s doorstep in central London.

Hyde Park will be hosting the following sports: Triathlon and Swimming. This is the largest Royal Park that has been open to the public since 1673.

Lee Valley White Water Centre will be hosting the following sport: Canoe Slalom. It is located 30km north from Olympic Park. The building work started in July 2009 and was finished in December 2010.

Lord’s Cricket Ground will be hosting the following sport: Archery. Lord’s has been home of cricket for a very long time.

The event taking place here is swimming. No tickets are needed for this event. The Olympics is encouraging people to walk or take public transport to this event.

North Greenwich Arena will be hosting the following sports: Basketball, Trampoline and Gymnastics-Artistic. It is located on the Greenwich peninsula on the River Thames banks. The arena was built for the millennium celebrations.

Old Trafford will be hosting the following sport: Football. It was affectionately nicknamed ‘Theatre of Dreams’ by football legend Bobby Charlton.

Olympic Park is home to 8 venues- including the iconic Olympic Stadium, Aquatics Centre and Velodrome- the Olympic park will be hosting some exciting attractions and events during the games.

The Olympic Stadium will be hosting the following event: Athletics. It will also be hosting 4 opening and closing ceremonies plus some of the most well known Games events. It was made in May 2008 and was completed March 2011.

The event taking place here is Athletics. No tickets are required. Their have been some road closures due to the event taking place.

The Riverbank Arena will be hosting the following sport: Hockey. The temporary Riverbank Arena is an inspiring venue. Construction began early this year and the hockey test event was ready in May 2012.

St. James Park will be hosting the following sport: Football. St. James Park is the oldest football ground in the north-east England. It was built in the 19th century.

The Mall will be hosting the following sports: Athletics and Cycling-Road. The Mall is a very well known in the central London.

The Royal Artillery Barracks will be hosting the following sport: Shooting. Building work began early 2011 and was done beginning of 2012.

The event taking place here is the Triathlon. No tickets are required for about 90% of the Triathlon route.

The Velodrome will be hosting the following sport: Cycling-Track. It is located in the north of the Olympic Park , the Velodrome is one of many bearable and very well known venues. Work on the Velodrome began March 2009 and was finished under 2 years later on February 2011. it was the 1st venue to be completed 18 months(1 year and 6 months) before the Olympics.

The Water Polo Arena will be hosting the following sport: Water Polo. It is the 1st zealous Water Polo venue ever built for the Olympics.

Wembley Arena will be hosting the following sports: Badminton and Gymnastic-Rhythmic. It is London's 2nd largest indoor arena after North Greenwich Arena. It was built for the 1934 British Empire Games(or the Common Wealth Games). Wembley Arena was lasted used in the London 1948 Olympic Games.

The Wembley Stadium will be hosting the following sport: Football. Wembley Stadium is an iconic figure in London.

Weymouth and Portland will be hosting the following sport: Sailing. It is located in Dorset, Weymouth and Portland provide some of the best natural sailing waters in the UK.

Wimbledon will be hosting the following sport: Tennis. It is suited to host one of the largest tennis matches the world has ever seen. Located in south-west London near Richmond Park and the World Heritage Site of Kew Gardens, Wimbledon is the only major grass-court tennis venue remaining in the world.

The Olympics is costing &24 billion ten times more than estimated in 2005.

There are two mascots, Wenlock is the official Olympic mascot and Mandeville is the official Paralympic mascot.

the Olympics including Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

The impact the Olympics will have on London is it will improve London’s image. It will boost the UK economy by &16.5 billion. Building, tourism, jobs and the “happiness effect” from the Olympics will leave a British legacy.

The losers will be the people who live near where the Olympic stadium is and they have had to have been moved to live somewhere else as their home is going to be knocked down; some local people might not like all the noise and the disruptions that will be happening during the Olympics. There will also be the problem of litter, workers who have to keep Olympic Park clean will have a had time cleaning everything up in time because people will keep dumping their rubbish on the floor.
