  • Dear Kindergarten Parents,We want to wish you a healthy and happy Pesach. Chag Samei’ach. We know that this Pesach will be like no other. Families who usually

gather together from far and wide will not be traveling. Anticipated reunions have been put on hold. Your seder may be, like work and school and even weddings and b’nei mitzvah, virtual, We long for life to be back to normal—babies found in rivers by princesses, 10 plagues from God, slaves freed from back-breaking labor, and the sea parted so we can flee our pursuers. Next year—altogether again…for real!

We understand that this Pesach break will also be like no other for you. Usually teachers do not assign work over the break because over the eight days of Pesach, four are Yom Tov, days on which, like Shabbat, work is prohibited, and of course there is usually a Shabbat or two in the mix as well.

This year two days of Chol ha-Mo’ed—intermediate days—on which work can be done fall on weekdays, one more is a Sunday. There is also the one day after Pesach. So we have asked teachers to pull together activities, suggestions, and resources for families to do with children on every grade level.

We hope these sources and suggestions will help you and your family during the break.

We all look forward to seeing you back at your screens on Monday, April 20th.

Chag Samei’ach v’Kasher. Stay safe and healthy.

Your Kindergarten Team and Linda and Jodi

    Seder Plate Craft Project

In addition to your own, classic seder plate, why not have the kids create one of their own to display on your seder table.

HuffPost ran a piece two years ago (but hey, it’s Passover—are we worried about two years when we are celebrating several thousand?) with 15 clever ways for kids to create a seder plate.

Two that we liked in particular were the felt seder plate and the Femo seder plate.

Some of the projects require materials you may not have around the house (though you could purchase them online), some need nothing more than your routine art supplies.

At a different time and a different place, you could make clay from flour; however, Passover does not exactly lend itself to hametz-based DIY projects.

If you do manage to pull one of these off, let us know via a photo.

    We’d love to share it.

  • THE FOUR QUESTIONS

    Happy Passover from JewishBoston.com

Telling the Passover story is a very important and special part of being Jewish.

It helps us remember where we came from, and what we should strive for.

And since Judaism and Passover are all about questions and conversation,

Passover is a great time to ask things you’ve always wanted to know!

The Haggadah has four traditional questions, but why stop there?

Write your own four questions below.

Bring this to the seder to ask your own four questions too!

    1.

    2.

    3.

  • THE FOUR CUPS OF FREEDOM

    Happy Passover from JewishBoston.com

On Passover, the four cups of wine commemorate the four words of freedom in God’s promise,

and we drink them to show how happy we are to be free.

Draw four things that make you feel happy and free!
