I’m a self-taught beader from Honolulu, Hawaii and have been making jewelry since I was a kid – nothing was more exciting than a few hours spent in a bead store admiring all the sparkling choices. In December 2005, I began seriously beading after discovering a beautiful crystal necklace that I wanted to duplicate. After tweaking the colors and bead choices, the necklaces were proudly worn by my bridesmaids. Since then, my creativity blossomed and thus Simply Sparkle Designs was formed.

About UsSimply Sparkle Designs is truly unique and one of a kind. Each piece is individually designed and handcrafted. All of the handmade jewelry is inspired by Hawaii’s natural beauty. The designs are simple yet elegant and can be worn casually or for a special occasion. I hope you enjoy my jewelry as much as I love making it.

Gold Plated: Base metal with a very, very thin layer of gold typically applied by electroplating. The thin layer of gold normally wears away more quickly than in a gold filled item. This option is a way to get the look of gold but for a fraction of the cost.

Gold Filled: They are made of a base metal (usually brass or copper) covered by sheets of gold in a mechanical bonding process. Effectively a thick coat of gold: the gold content is 5% or 1/20 of the total weight. The value of gold-filled is greater that gold-plated because gold-filled has an actual layer of karat gold, not just a microscopic film. The gold will not chip off and is very durable. It is more economical than solid gold but will not wear away or tarnish like gold plate. It is safe for most people with sensitive skin.

Sterling Silver: A mixture of pure silver and some other metal, usually copper. The resulting alloy gives the silver strength. The standard is at least 92.5% silver. Hence the .925 stamp you see on some sterling silver items.

Rhodium Plated: A plating that gives metals a silver tone finish. A rhodium finish is darker than a silver plated finish and darkens with time rather than tarnishing like silver plate.

Silver Plated: Is a very thin layer of silver electroplated on to a thick piece of base metal. Silver plated items are muchless expensive than sterling silver items. Unlike sterling silver, silver plated jewelry will eventually wear in due time.
