Time Frame:3- 4 Weeks
Anticipatory Set:How will you get students ready for the lesson or gather prior knowledge that may help students better understand the lesson?
Students will be taught new material through direct instruction. Material will be supplemented through the use of videos. Students will be assessed orally, aurally, and in written format on a daily/weekly basis. This will occur through: daily warm-ups, classroom observations, question and answer, turned in work, online assessments, projects and an end of the unit summative
assessment.
Procedure (Instruction Face to Face and Digital):Face to Face:1. All Grammar and Vocabulary-Direct Instruction (Skeleton notes students fill in as taught are attached)2. Individual Whiteboards- used for number practice, vocabulary and verb conjugations (I say number in Spanish, students write digits on board. I give a Spanish description, students write vocabulary word. I say subject and infinitive students show the conjugations)3. Aural Comprehension Activity (worksheet attached)- I give names, time of class, the class and whether the student like/dislikes the class. Students fill in the table and then answer the questions.4. Me Gusta Project.
Digital:How will you set up this lesson; what will students and the instructor be doing? How will devices or tools be used? What instruction is provided to students?
Students will go into the lab 1-2 times per week. Prior to leaving class they will either have oral instructions, or be told where to look on a Moodle post for instructions. During this lab time the teacher will have time to individually work with students that struggle, need further clarification or have questions. Some videos may be assigned as homework to watch and will be discussed and utilized in class the next day.

DEFINITE ARTICLESYou may have noticed that all of the vocabulary words in this lesson begin with el or la. These words are called definite articles. The el and la in Spanish are equivalent to the word the in English. In English, the definite article the has only one form and is used with both singular and plural nouns. In Spanish, the form of the definite article changes according to the number and gender (masculine or feminine) of the noun. Look at the chart below to see the definite articles in Spanish and then select each tab to learn more.

INDEFINITE ARTICLESIn English, the indefinite articles are a, an, and some/a few. They are used with both singular and plural nouns. The Verb GustarThe verb gustar is commonly used in Spanish to express likes and dislikes. The literal translation of gustar is to be pleasing, but in English we just say to like. The verb gustar is used with the indirect object pronouns me and te to say I like (me gusta) andyou like (te gusta). You will learn more about indirect object pronouns later. For now, just remember that me gusta means I like and te gusta means you like.
The phrases me gusta and te gusta change to me gustan and te gustan when you are talking about something plural. Look at the chart and the examples below.

Gustar with InfinitivesYou have already learned about the verb gustar. Now we are going to use gustar with an infinitive to say that we like to do something. An infinitive is the verb in its original state, such as estudiar and practicar.
In English, we use the verb to like with the infinitive.
I like to talk. He likes to work.
In Spanish, we do the same thing.

You are going to create a project, which expresses your feelings about different activities classes or objects. You will use the verb gustar. You will write at least 10 sentences using gustar to express what you like and what you don’t like. This is a chance for you to tell the rest of us about who you are using your Spanish skills.
Your project must include the following:
Some type of visual aide – poster, collage, book, slide show, web site, etc.
You need to include a picture for each item that you include as a like or dislike.
You need to use the verb gustar in each of your 10 sentences. Be sure that you include a mixture of likes and dislikes. Also, be sure that you use both the singular and plural forms of gustar (gusta/gustan).
