Procedure (Instruction Face to Face and Digital):Face to Face:1. All Grammar and Vocabulary-Direct Instruction (Skeleton notes students fill in as taught are attached)2. Individual Whiteboards- used for number practice, vocabulary and verb conjugations (I say number in Spanish, students write digits on board. Aural Comprehension Activity (worksheet attached)- I give names, time of class, the class and whether the student like/dislikes the class. Students fill in the table and then answer the questions.4. Me Gusta Project.

Digital:How will you set up this lesson; what will students and the instructor be doing? How will devices or tools be used? What instruction is provided to students?

Students will go into the lab 1-2 times per week. Prior to leaving class they will either have oral instructions, or be told where to look on a Moodle post for instructions. During this lab time the teacher will have time to individually work with students that struggle, need further clarification or have questions. Some videos may be assigned as homework to watch and will be discussed and utilized in class the next day.

DEFINITE ARTICLESYou may have noticed that all of the vocabulary words in this lesson begin with el or la. These words are called definite articles. The el and la in Spanish are equivalent to the word the in English. In English, the definite article the has only one form and is used with both singular and plural nouns. In Spanish, the form of the definite article changes according to the number and gender (masculine or feminine) of the noun. Look at the chart below to see the definite articles in Spanish and then select each tab to learn more.

INDEFINITE ARTICLESIn English, the indefinite articles are a, an, and some/a few. They are used with both singular and plural nouns. In Spanish, the form of the indefinite articles changes according to the number and gender (masculine or feminine) of the noun. In the singular forms, un and una may mean one or a. In the plural forms, unos and unas may mean some or a few.

The Verb GustarThe verb gustar is commonly used in Spanish to express likes and dislikes. The literal translation of gustar is to be pleasing, but in English we just say to like. The verb gustar is used with the indirect object pronouns me and te to say I like (me gusta) andyou like (te gusta). You will learn more about indirect object pronouns later. For now, just remember that me gusta means I like and te gusta means you like.

Gustar with InfinitivesYou have already learned about the verb gustar. Now we are going to use gustar with an infinitive to say that we like to do something. An infinitive is the verb in its original state, such as estudiar and practicar.

In English, we use the verb to like with the infinitive.

I like to talk.  He likes to work.

In Spanish, we do the same thing.
