Grant Application Page 2 One Page Project Summary

This grant request is for the replacement fo guzzler number 5 on PinyonRidge, approximately 11 miles north west of Wrightwood.

The existing guzzler has fallen into disrepair, and because of a veryunusual design, and inability to access the tank, the guzzler cannot beput back into operation.

The replacement with a "Nevada Style" guzzler from the current style ofguzzler, will allow the guzzler to be repaired and serviced easily. Alsothe life span of the guzzler will be significantly increased, providingwater for the local wildlife for year to come.

Project Information

Statement of justification of need:

Statement of purpose and goals:

Action plan to meet objectives:

Pinyon Ridge guzzler number 5 is nownon-functioning because of it's designwith the tank buried under the apron, making maintenance of the tank and clearingdebris impossible without destroying theapron. To service the guzzler and clear debrisyou must destroy the apron, and possible thetanks to clear debris that is clogging thelines going to the drinker. This is the lastguzzler of this type of Pinyon Ridge. A NevadaStyle guzzler is easily serviced.

To increase the ability for game to dispersewith the addition of another guzzler. Alsoto provide another water source in droughtyears.

We will remove the apron and replace thenon-functioning guzzler with a Nevada Style thatis more efficient. Installing a 880 gallon tank, with steel uprights and crossbeams, with enoughstrength to withstand snow conditions, and theoccasional bear. The tank has a walk in ramp forsmall game. We will also install a valve withpipe leading to a stainless steel drinker forbig game.
