The past comes to life in this unique summer day program at
Monterey State Historic Park, located in the heart of historic “Old Town” Monterey.

Monterey State Historic Park’s Summer History Day Program
One-week programs offered: June 17-21 or June 24-28

For students entering 3rd to 6th Grades.
Scholarships are available for those that demonstrate financial need. Please visit the State Parks website www.parks.ca.gov/mshp for an application.
The Program Week-long classes are held at thebeautiful Pacific House and Memory Garden which is a 1840s adobe buildingand a heritage garden. The property is aState Historic Park site. State Park staff, Meghan Braillard and Sam Koehler, will instruct students through hands-on activitiesand includes tours of Monterey’s historical sites and buildings, period games and
toys, crafts, food, songs and dances, and Spanish vocabulary. The week culminates in a “Fandango” where students sharewhat they have learned with family members and take homethe treasures they have made.
Students are also provided with historic reproductionclothing to wear for their week of time travel.
Logistics & Scholarships The Pacific House Museum is located at 20 Custom Hosue Plaza in downtown Monterey. Sessions run Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m.
Sessions include the use of period clothing, all class materials, and snacks. Registration opens March 1, 2019. Applications are available at the Custom House Store at 20 Custom House Plaza, Monterey. or online at www.parks.ca.gov/mshp (School Programs)

About Our History Camp
Los Niños de Monterey 2019
Note: Class session A or B may be canceled if 10 children are not enrolled by May 30, 2019
Grades 3 thru 6 are combined in both sessions. Sixth grades can assist
instructors for some sessions to promote leadership skills.
Summer History Day Program: For students entering Grades 3 thru 6. Hands-on activities centered on the history of Monterey’s cultures of the past, from the California Indian period up to Statehood.
Session A: June 17-21
Session B: June 24-28
Fee: $145 per child for one week session.
The first 16 registrants in each session will be accepted. Youwill receive confirmation of your child’s acceptance by mail or email
list will be kept for all sessions after they become full. Fee payment is required to cover your child’s program costs.
Payment should be received no later than 2 weeks before the program.If registering more than one child, a separate registration form for each child is required.
