“These recent paintings are based on a trip to the north-west coast of Scotland, and to Skye.
I always seem to be drawn to the edge of things, to the furthest west it is possible to go in these islands. I love the sense of looking out into that openness and huge space towards the horizon, and glimpsing islands even further out - there’s something magi-cal about seeing them in the distance, mysterious and half-hidden.
Everything is affected by the light, reflecting back from the sea through the clean, clear air, and constantly shifting and changing.”
