Much of Baton Rouge is extremely flat and the drainage can be poor, so during rainy weather many areas quickly flood, meaning that driving in heavy rain can be hazardous. Rain is not unusual in Baton Rouge and falls evenly throughout the year, although rainy weather is often short and quickly vanishes.

It is the sixth largest college football stadium in the nation, holding 92,400 fans. The Tiger Stadium atmosphere is generally considered one of the loudest and most electrifying college football experiences in the country.
