The Louvre Museum (Muse du Louvre), located in Paris, is one of the largest and most famous museums in the world. The building erected by Napoleon in the center of Paris, located between the Seine and the Rue de Rivoli. Its central courtyard, now occupied by the glass pyramid of the Louvre, is the axis of the Champs-lyses. The Louvre was the seat of the French monarchy since the medieval era, having been deserted by Louis XVI on behalf of the Palace of Versailles.

Part of the royal palace of the Louvre was first opened to the public as a museum on November 8, 1793, during the French Revolution. It is where the Mona Lisa, the Winged Victory of Samothrace, the Venus de Milo, huge collections of artifacts from ancient Egypt, the classic artists of Europe as Titian, Rembrandt, Goya, Rubens or Renoir, one of the largest samples of the art world and human culture.
