Lovelines Volume 5 CH2513 The Christian Homes for Children, Inc. Newsletter FALL 2014

Founder: George M. Brown, Ph.D.

Thank you for your unwavering support this

summer. With your help we were able to offer

the children a Vacation Bible School mini-camp specifically designed to offer spiritual enrichment and reinforce Christian teach-

ing. Because of crushing budget restraints that often lead to limitless fundraising, it is quite possible to sometimes lose sight of

the ultimate mission of Christian Homes for Children which is to give hope, healing and comfort to abused and neglected children

while offering each child the opportunity to experience eternal joy and peace. But with your fervent prayers for this ministry and

through the Bible school mini-camp, we were able to encourage the children to show brotherly love, express diligence and honor,

rejoice in hope, be patient in affliction and persistent in prayer. CHFC prays daily to “rid itself of all wickedness, all deceit, hy-

pocrisy, envy and all slander so that like newborn infants we may desire the unadulterated spiritual milk needed to help us and the

children grow in our salvation.” (1 Peter 2:1-2) There are many ministries that do good work, but few more important to God

than caring for his orphans. “It is religion that is

pure and undefiled before God the Father.” (James

1:27) Will you set aside a monthly gift of love for

his precious ones, and begin by mailing your first

donation today? Mary Menzies, Writer & Editor - Dr. Brown, Monitor

You are invited to attend the next ADVISORY COUNCIL MEETING

on the last Friday of each month @ the Driftwood Church of Christ

2640 North 72nd Avenue Hollywood, FL 33024

Meeting begins promptly at 7 p.m. Light refreshment will be served!!

It is the middle of the night. We sit quietly on the couch near the front door holding hands with our heads bowed in

humble prayer. We thank God for the home he has provided via the help of Christian Homes for Children. We’ve struggled

to absorb the vital information in our MAPP/PRIDE (Model Approach To Partnership Parenting/Parent Resource Infor-

mation Development Education) classes. Our certifications are now complete, and we have endured an extensive creden-

tialing process. A representative from the child

placing agency has just called to say that she is

on her way with our first child. Our palms are

sweaty and our hearts flutter. What does our baby

look like? We wonder if he or she will sleep

through the night. Oops, we forgot to ask whether

the child is a boy or girl. Nevertheless, our baby

arrives. She is very ill, and will need exceptional

care just to survive the first few years of her life.

We hold her tiny body in our arms and bring her

little head close to our cheek. It is not long before

we are filing adoption papers. Because of the un-

wavering support of CHFC, many of our parents

make lifelong commitments to their foster chil-

dren very early on. With adoption, CHFC par-

ents give up the monthly board payment offered

by the state and take on the financial responsibil-

ity of putting each child through college.

It is important to note that the parents of the

young ladies pictured in these photos have adopt-

ed 11 children over the years.

Need help with establishing a lasting legacy for God’s children? Please call us at 305-825-0517 or email us at [email protected].

Luzette (right) is the daughter of James & Nellie Dassaw (upper right). Luzette received her high school diploma earlier this year and is already attending Miami Dade College. She is studying to be a nurse. Barbara Ramos (left) is the daugh-ter of Rolando and Doris Ramos. She is named for the wife of CHFC founder, Dr. George Brown. Barbara is pictured here celebrating her Quincerañera (15th birthday). “I live to honor the memory of my mother who passed away” declares Barbara. This out-standing athlete plays basketball and softball and makes excellent grades. Surely, the labor of the CHFC community is not in vain.
