Check under the “Student” tab in Anchor Access to find out who your assigned advisor is.

Make an appointment to meet with your advisor and set up a course schedule and “plan of study” to follow. This will ensure that you take your classes in the right order, complete all your classes on time, and graduate as soon as possible.

Step 4 The Online Degree Audit is available in Anchor Access

under the "Student" tab. This displays all of the requirements needed to earn your degree at LSSU.

Please run your Online Degree Audit frequently:before you meet with your advisor each semester; after registering each semester to verify your

courses are correct; at the end of each semester after final grading to

verify GPA information.

• Discipline: also known as academic subject (example: Biology is a discipline)• Double-Counting: meeting two requirements with one course• Elective: not all students meet minimum 120 units needed to graduate with General Education,

American Institutions or Major courses; courses chosen by the student to reach minimum 120 units are called Electives; in Major, courses that can be chosen by student based on given list or numbering scheme (example: 6 units Upper-Division)

• ELM: Entry Level Mathematics examination• EPT: English Placement Test• Faculty Advisor: Faculty members who advise students regarding Major requirements, course

substitutions, internships, and graduate school• Full-Time: being enrolled in 12 units or more/semester• General Education (GE): 48-unit graduation requirement distributed across five categories or areas

(A - E)• Graduation Requirement: requirement needing to be met in order to graduate (example: completing

minimum of 120 units)• Laboratory/Activity: both linked with lecture courses, but are not the same thing• Lower-Division: courses numbered 100-299

• Major (BA & BS): course of study leading to Bachelor of Arts (BA) Degree or Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree

• Part-Time: being enrolled in 6 units or less/semester• Permission Number: number required to register for certain courses; obtained through Faculty

member teaching course• Prerequisite: requirement listed in course description that must be completed prior to enrolling in

course• Program Chair: Faculty members in charge of one or more Majors• Section: courses listed in Schedule of Classes may have more than one day/time they are offered;

thus, section numbers are used to differentiate between them• Transfer Credit: transfer course work earned through Advanced Placement (AP) or International

Baccalaureate (IB) examinations, or college or university courses taken elsewhere• Undergraduate: student who is pursuing Baccalaureate degree (Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of

Science)• Unit: credit received for passing a course; number of hours/week course meets• Upper-Division: courses numbered 300 and above• Waitlist: when registering for courses, the process of selecting option to be placed on waitlist for a

course, so you may be added if/when another student drops it
