DIVERSITY & INCLUSION

ENGAGEMENT IS IMPORTANT, BUT WHERE DOES IT TAKE US?

2

Barriers we are facing:

• Lack of understanding of role of military and the opportunities within

- only see ‘bombs and bullets’

• We often see that we are ‘supported’ by BAME but they don’t want to join us.

• Lack of Role/Real Models.

- Both BAME and FEMALE

- ICE MAIDENS

• Perception of being led by white, middle class males.

- We are just ‘tools of govt’ – leads to lack of trust.

• Cadets are recruitment tool for the Army

- lack of understanding they are not part of the Army but a community organisation.
