Other Areas

Health and Wellbeing

We are learning across the curriculum. Choose at least three tasks – or do them all!

We are learning to stay healthy in mind and body

Art: Energy Agency Lockdown calendar competition. Closing date THIS FRIDAY19th June

Art 2: Try this to make a clay Wizard’s hat keyring: https://www.wizardingworld.com/features/learn-how-to-make-a-wizards-hat-keyring

ICT: Try these detective puzzles: https://www.bbc.co.uk/cbbc/joinin/bp-could-you-be-a-detective-like-sherlock-holmes

COAST topic: Personal project: choose a stretch of coastline you know well. Make an information guide. This should include a map showing where in Scotland (or other country) your stretch of coast is, a map of the coast in detail, information about creatures which live on the beach or in the sea IN THAT AREA, plus anything else you find interesting. This can be typed or written or a mixture of both. Remember to use your own words, only pictures can be copied and pasted. You can use Word, Powerpoint, Sway, video, paper – any medium you like! This is a two-week project and can be submitted as an Assignment up until Thursday 25th June…but if you do it this week – you don’t have to do it next week!

Watch and/or read Newsround at least once every week: https://www.bbc.co.uk/newsround Try the worksheet for today: https://www.bbc.co.uk/newsround#more-stories-5 Choose one story you found most interesting and write about it, including your feelings – if it is Covid-related you could do this in your Co-blog.

Music / Drama: Last week of this! It’s fine to join in a bit late!: https://www.scottishopera.org.uk/fever

Logical Reasoning: If your brain likes puzzles, try this: Who Owns The Fish? (worksheet below) Do NOT get stressed by this – it’s for fun! If you want to discuss the answer, we can do this after our chat on Teams on Thusday

Task 1: IMPORTANT! Music is a great way to relax and distress (although your parents might not feel too stress-free by the end of this project!)

If you haven’t already, join the YMI #together Team, choose your instrument(s) and submit a video on the Team (closing date Friday) If you don’t want to do a video, that is fine. Then give us some feedback in our class Team’s Assignment.

Task 2: Home PE Challenge sheet (attached below)

Think again about your daily fitness routine: are you managing to be active for at least 60 minutes every day? Do you think you do more or less physical activity now, compared to when we were at school?

Try out some of these activities with your family and let us know what works well for you.

Task 3: Mindfulness:

Spelling Chilli Challenge

From the word lists below, select the set that will challenge you at an appropriate level. Give yourself a spelling test using the words before you start – words you get correct straight away may not need more work. If your spelling is great at the start of the week, your focus is on using the words correctly in sentences. Talisman group – use your own lists but feel free to use these lists too!

Primary 6, please notice that you have to submit your entry yourselves on Twitter – but we’d love you to share your piece of work with us on Assignments in your Team!

If you have any problems with Twitter, send us your entry and we’ll submit it for you. Please encourage younger and older siblings to enter too – you could help them out with ideas using the input we had from the Energy Agency and work on the Global Goals – remember that’s part of being a Rights Respecting School!
