Criteria to Be Recommended for

Reclassification

What it Measures

CELDT (AMAO1 and AMAO2):

Overall CELDT score of 4 or 5 with

CELDT scores of 3 or higher in

Listening, Speaking, Reading, and

Writing.

The CELDT has 3 purposes:

1.To identify new students who are ELs in K-

12

2.To determine their level of English

proficiency

3.To annually assess their progress in

acquiring listening, speaking, reading, and

writing skills in English.

CST/CMA: Basic or higher ELA Score.In High School, a passing score on

the CAHSEE ELA will meet this requirement.

The CST determines how well students are

achieving the state's standards in ELA.

ELA: “C” or higher final semester

mark in grades 6 to 12.

Teacher’s judgment that a student will be/has

been successful in a Mainstream English

program.
