BEDFORD HILLS— Letters were issued to Bedford

Hills residents this week asking for funds to support next >ear's operating expenses for the Bed-ord Hills Memorial Park and Rec­reation Council Inc. This is its only means of securing needed funds as the park recicres no fi­nancial suppoit from Town tax funds and neither docs it share in the United Fund Drive.

The Park was substantially im­proved by the planting of more than 200 hemlocks which will eventually be finished into anoth­er baseball field. A merry-go-lound was erected in the play­ground area.

The board is looking forwaid 1 o a busy season next year and .n addition to regular activities the paik will also be used as a play­ing field for the Bedford Hills Elementary School which is with out a plasgiound at the present time due to the construction now-going on there.

The largest donation received by the Park this v\ear was the sum of S200 contributed by the Bedford Hills Bowling League and the smallest was 25 pennies contribut­

ed by a Bedford Hills school child.

Louis Fontana, two-and-a half year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Dan­ny Fontana of Bedford Ave., Bed­ford Hills, was a patient at Pres­byterian Hospital in New York for a few days last week. Louis pre­viously spent three months at Presbyterian Hospital in New York and during September underwent an abdominal operation there.
