BI Team Background

Program initiated by Finance about 2 years ago. Executive Sponsorship provided by Corp Controller. Program vision is to provide an efficient set of tools for

accurate and timely reporting and analysis. One Version of the Truth.

Tools in production: Cognos BI 8.3, Cognos EP 8.3,Cognos Finance, and MSFT SSIS for ETL.

Team includes 1 director, 1 systems manager (open), 1 lead engineer and 1 system analyst.

Partners with developers in the business areas. For example: EP modeler in FP&A, Finance report author in Accounting Shared Services, HR report author in Human Resources and Metrics development on the Performance Management team.

Leverages IT infrastructure team, PMO team and QA team whenever possible.

Successes

Over 150 users from various departments including users outside of Las Vegas authenticating via a different LDAP namespace.

Built user trust with accurate data models: – General Ledger Reporting– Human Capital Management Reporting– Kronos Labor Reporting– LMS for Hotel Accounting Analysis

Upgraded Cognos Finance to 7.4 and leverages Active Directory Groups and enabled Web Reporting.

Converted a proprietary data mart to a standard data mart using standard ETL tool.

Migrated from a LDAP domain to a different domain with limited downtime to the users.

Next Steps

Duplicate the successes for Marina Bay Sands property in Singapore.

Elevate user experience from canned reports to active reporting and monitoring.

Design and construct a Consolidated Financial Data Mart.

Upgrade the systems from 8.3 to 8.4 and to provide drill back to Cognos Finance from BI.

Establish Service Level Agreements with stakeholders.

Continue to strengthen the relationship with our partners and align with the needs of the business.
