It seems to have affected all are- as of our lives right now, from the way we spend our free time to the way we shop for groceries. Last week I had to do something I never thought would ever happen when I had to cancel our Spring Fling. I waited just as long as I thought we could before making that decision. I guess the good news is the cancelation should not cost us much if any- thing. I am very sorry we had to do it but there was no way around canceling. We are in the process of getting refunds out to everyone for their registration, dinner show, 50/50 tickets, shirts and masters breakfast. Bob has a lot of checks to write, so please be patient, and he will get them out as soon as he can. In the short time since the decision was made I have seen a lot of changes (directives from the government) that support what we had to do. I am not sure how the rest of the sum- mer is going to be affected by this virus but anything I hear, from GWRRA, will be sent out as soon as I get it. We will need you to be understanding if you seem to get some an- nouncements two or maybe three times. We are all trying to keep everyone informed. Before you attend any rallies or other GWRRA activities call and make sure they are still on. For now I am going to consider everything as canceled until further notice. I have no information about Wing Ding. It is too early for them to make the decision of whether to cancel or not. As soon as the word comes out one way or the other you will know. I have found that the easiest and fastest way to get information out to everyone is the Group Works. With Group Works I can message everyone at the same time; it leaves very little chance for a gap that will allow someone to be missed. So if you are not signed up for Group Works now would be the time. I will send out an invite to everyone that is not on please sign on and change your pass word and you will start get all the information that comes out. So now we have to look to next year, I am working on the contract to have the rally at the same location next year. Spring Fling will be on the same week end, the first weekend in May. The dates for Spring Fling 2021 will be April 29-30 and May 1, 2021. As soon as we get everything finalized with the contract I will get a reg-istration form on the web site. We are keeping the same theme. I know some people have costumes and some chapters have skits worked out so keep working on them.
Now we have talked about the down side of the COVID-19. The social distancing lends itself very nicely to our passion (Motorcycling). We all ways ride more than six feet from each other, we try not to let others touch our equipment and we do our own refueling. I did hear today that the virus is being shared at the gas pump so be sure to carry some rubber gloves and use them at the pump. I think that meets almost all the requirements. The only problem we have is we like to eat, ok how about a picnic lunch. We should be able to stop in to a city park and have our lunch, just remember the six foot rule. The hardest part will be the No Hugging and Hand Shaking rule.
In closing I would like to encourage everyone to help take care of our family. Make some phone calls to make sure our chapter members are doing ok, make sure we don’t have friends in need that are being over looked. There is a lot we can do for each other without personal contact. So please everyone follow the guidance of our Government and we will get thru this in GWRRA style, with a lot of family care, love and protection for each other.

How to Have fun while Quarantined So Spring Fling has been cancelled for this year. You are stuck in the house looking for things to do to occu-py your time. The weather is not cooperating for social distancing on the motorcycle. What is there to do. Well here are some ideas. Take pictures of yourself showing what you are doing and share them with your Chapter. Write an original skit for next years Spring Fling which will be the same theme as it was supposed to be this year. Go to the garage and clean and shine your ride. Be sure and take pictures while doing it to prove that you actually did clean it at least once this year. Go through the bags on your bike and update your first aid kit, get rid of the breath mints that you put in there in 2010. You can probably buy new breath mints and a first aid kit from the change you find scattered around in the trunk. You might even get a chance to find the bottom of some of the bags on your bike that you haven’t seen since you got it. Go through all the paper-work in your bike and get rid of those 50/50 tickets from 2017, get rid of the gas receipts that have faded so bad you can’t read them anymore. Call and check on other Chapter members to make sure they are Okay. Discuss what you would like to do as a Chapter once this mess is over. Start saving your shredded paper, the lint from your dryer along with the used dryer sheets. (They may come in handy should you run out of TP and can’t find any) Write a letter to friends and family just to see the shock from them getting an old-fashioned letter in the mail. Write an article for your Chapter newsletter.
Whatever you do, make sure you stay safe and germ free during this time of uncertainty. We want to see eve-ry one of you next year at Spring Fling and don’t want you to become a statistic of the Pandemic of 2020. Follow the guidelines and don’t risk becoming a statistic. We look forward to seeing you in person once this time of crisis is past.

District Membership Enhancement Program Coordinators (MEPC)
This month’s article is certainly not going to be about what I thought it would be a couple of weeks ago.
I was going to talk about completed courses and upcoming courses in Medic First Aid/ CPR. All of a sudden the world around us changed and we have had to make amends for our every move. Instead of rescue breaths and chest compressions, we are thinking about hand washing, keeping our hands away from our faces, and stay-ing 6 feet apart. We are constantly reminded to check on the elderly, our family, neighbors, and friends. Give people a call, an email or text just to say that I’m thinking of you or ask if they need anything. We are all in this together.
As you know, GWRRA along with most federal, state, and local agencies are calling for us to cancel or post-pone social gatherings. This is hard as so many events are being planned for the coming months, everything from classes, rallies, rides to other types events: weddings vacations and family events. Hopefully the social dis-tancing suggested will help stop the spread of the virus and life as we know it will return soon.
Please take a serious approach to safety. Wash your hands often, wear gloves when you pump gas, use wipes after touching doors, pinpads and any other shared hard surfaces.
We are all in unknown territory as we have not been quarantined in this manner before. Spend some time getting to know your family, go for a walk, get some fresh air, make the best of a bad situation.
Right now the Covid-19 pandemic is the news and GWRRA and the District is responding. With this epidemic going we are canceling all gatherings and training. This hurts to do but for the protection of our members we have canceled the classes scheduled for Gallatin on April 11th. We are also canceling the TRC class set for Co-lumbia on April 25th. This was after a zoom call with the District Directors Dennis & Jan Peterson on Thursday night. GWRRA has suspended all training until the pandemic episode is under control. We are sorry to hear that Spring Fling has been cancelled. So we have been advised to suspend all training until this pandemic is un-der control. With that we are cancelling the April 11 ARC and TRC Class in Gallatin. The Class set for April 25 in Columbia is cancelled also. The class set in Maryville is still set for May 30th. However we are going to evalu-ate this as the crisis continues and will notify if it is needed to be cancelled.
GWRRA has granted a extension to all those who will need training during this time, except for those of us who are rider course instructors. They have put online courses online for those of us who need to keep current in our rider courses.
We still have a class scheduled for Chapter F Morristown in September and if all goes well we will set up new classes for those that were cancelled.
Medic First Aid has been cancelled until further notice. I am grateful we had a great class in Morristown 20 peo-ple. Thank you chapter F.
We will refund all ARC/TRC classes that have been cancelled.
