FRAMING FAITH for the FUTURE SEQUANOTA LUTHERAN CONFERENCE CENTER AND CAMP CAPITAL CAMPAIGN UPDATE In 2019 Sequanota celebrates 72 years of ministry! This ministry was founded by the congre- gations of the Allegheny Synod to be a place of faith formation for children, youth, and adults. Over those years, we have done incredible work together. Our working together makes this ministry happen. Since Sequanota was built, we have only run two capital campaigns to maintain or upgrade our camp and retreat home. This current campaign has been our most successful campaign. Thank you to all our donors, who have partnered with us to help shape Sequanota for the next generations of faith formation in the church! The Framing Faith for the Future campaign launched in 2014. At present, the campaign is over halfway completed with half of the synod’s congregations visited by campaign volunteers and over $782,000 pledged. The Sequanota board of directors' goal is to reach $1.2 million. We now expect it will take ten years to reach the goal. Thank you for your contributions to Sequanota’s Framing Faith for the Future Capital Campaign. We recognize the need to do a more effective job of sharing all the progress that has been made at camp and now plan to send an annual update to all Sequanota supporters. We are now in between phase 2 and phase 3 in this campaign, and we look to 2024 as the close of the campaign. Included in this update are some of the biggest projects we have successfully completed in the past five years because of contributions like yours. Campaign ProjectsThe projects in green have been completed through the gifts given to the capital campaign. We haveaccomplished a lot in the last five years. There are noticeable improvements to the entire facility, andthis is reason to celebrate! However, we are not done. The projects in black still need to be funded, sothe Framing Faith for the Future capital campaign continues.

Lobby in Bowersox Center

The Bowersox Center was built in 1979 and had notseen a major renovation in its history. The facility isagain a welcoming and inviting space with bright lights, comfy furniture, and beautiful flooring. One of the bigtrends we see is fewer families in Sunday School, butwe all know we still need time for faith formation. Couldthere be a new model out there that invites families andcongregation leaders to come for a weekend andinspire each other in our faith lives? We think so!

What I have learned after six years ofleading the Sequanota community…

… is that it takes a huge team to make this ministryhappen. Sequanota welcomes over 3,000 guests everyyear. As a camp and retreat center, our goal is to helpour guests grow in their connection to Christ, creation, and community. Making the Sequanota experiencehappen, takes continual commitment of the staff, volunteers and donors. Thank you for what you havedone (financially, giving of time and special skills, andby sharing a referral) to continue the legacy ofSequanota! As I look to the future of camp and retreat ministries,

it is apparent to me that God’s people will need a holyplace to take time away to nurture their faith. TheSequanota Board of Directors and I are committed tocreating the Sequanota experience for another 72years, so that we can continue to facilitate connectionsthat inspire growth in our guests.

To accomplish this task, we must strengthen thesupport base for Sequanota. The local, Lutheranchurches have been the firm foundation for this ministry.Today I dream of a strong tribe of families andindividuals to help gird and support Sequanota alongwith the local congregations. The renovations andimprovements are not completed yet. New ministryideas are still to be created and realized. As past alumni or a raving fan of Sequanota please

consider an additional gift to the Framing Faith for theFuture Capital Campaign or the annual operating fund.Together we make a huge difference in our world! Thisbrochure shares some of the work we haveaccomplished through the gifts of the capital campaign. Our mission advances together, and we hope you willaccompany us as the work of making connections withChrist, creation and community continues.
