Living Under The Nazi Rule

• Anne and Margot are not allowed to go to school with non-Jewish children.

• Jews over the age of six were made to wear a yellow Star Of David on their clothes.

• Jews were made to register their businesses and later were forced to give them to non-Jews. Luckily, otto Frank had already turned his business over to his non-Jewish colleagues, Victor Kugler and Johannes Kleiman.

• Jews were now being arrested just for being Jews . Many were forced to go to German labour camps.

The Franks Plan to Go Into Hiding

• Victor Kugler, Johannes Kleiman ,Miep Gies, Jan Gies, Bep Voskuijl and Bep’s father all offered to help.

• They helped keep the families aware of the outside world.

• They decided the best place to hide was an annex of rooms above Otto’s office.

• They went into hiding on 6th July,1942.

Being Discovered• It was on August 4th,1944, that Anne, her family and

friends were discovered.• For sixty years people have been searching as to who it

was that made that phone call.• There are two main theories as to who it could have

been.• Between 10am and 10.30am a car pulled up outside the

annex.• Several men entered the building. They headed straight

for the bookcase.• They arrested everyone inside the annex along with two

of the helpers.• The two women who had helped the Franks gathered Anne’s

diary ,hoping one day to return it to her.

• These are the names of the following camps, Westerbork, Auschwitz, Bergen Belsen, Buchenwald, Theresienstadt, Mauthausen, Neuengamme and Sachsenhausen.

• Otto Frank was the only one to survive the war.
