Little Blue

Watch the English lesson video which is saved in The Learning Zone of the ILD – Monday English video (wb 01.02.21). Here I

will talk your child through a new story mountain – this time for the story of Little Blue. Once you have watched the video, please

talk with your child about the events in the new story. If they wanted to draw their own story mountain they could do and I have

saved a blank story moutain on the ILD, if needed.

comprehension activity. Please choose and use the one you feel best suits your child. These are interactive and the correct picture

can be selected by clicking on the circle within the picture.

English Using the story mountain from yesterday’s English session, ask your child to reenact the story of Little Blue using puppets. In The

Learning Zone of the ILD, you will find character pictures that can be added to lolly stocks/straws to make puppets. Your child

could draw their own puppets if this is easier. If they would prefer, they could enlist the help of family members who could all dress

up as a character and act out the story. The most important thing is that your child orally retells the story of Little Blue. Please

upload a video to the ILD.

Tricky word

passcode

Add a passcode to one of the doors in your home to help your child to learn their tricky words for reading. Please use the tricky

words we are learning during our phonics activities or, if your child already knows these confidently, choose the next tricky words

from your tricky word sheet.

Write 10 tricky words, one into each circle. Set a passcode, which will be needed for anyone to open the door. An example of a

passcode could be he, she, was, no. Your child would then need to touch the words he, she, was, no in the correct order to gain

access to the room, reading them out loud as they touch them. You could change the passcode daily or leave it for a few days before

changing it. Please add a photo/video to the ILD.

English Your child should now have a good idea of the story of Little Blue. Ask them to draw a picture of one part of the story and write a

sentence to go with it. They could draw a picture of Grandma shooting out of the wolf’s mouth and write, the wolf burped and

grandma flew out. Please add the picture to the ILD.

PE Watch this video explaining how to play the game ‘Colour Combination.’ Your child can either play the game on their own or with

other members of your family. Please add a video to the ILD.
