This is the M-G set.It converts frequency or voltageaccording to its use.

Motor and Generator

MotorGenerator

What is the M-G set?A device that converts electrical energy to rotary energy by using its motorand converts rotary energy to electrical energy by using its generator

Various combinations of motor with generator enable supply of specialpower supply (frequency conversion and voltage conversion) and stablepower supply.

NISHISHIBA Uses

1 As a 50/60 Hz convertible power supply

2 As a variable frequency power supply

3 As a variable voltage power supply

Uses of the M-G set

When a 60 Hz (50 Hz) power supply is necessary in a50 Hz (60 Hz) region

When you need a power supply that changes frequencyaccording to the use

When you need a power supply that changes voltageaccording to the use

Combining the motor with an inverter enables adjustmentto a wide range of frequencies.

A special design enables adjustment to a wide range ofvoltages.

Factory power supplyIf the commercial power supply isdifferent from the power supplyfrequency of the factory equipmentExample: When 60 Hz (50 Hz)equipment is brought into a 50 Hz (60Hz) region

Test power supplyUsed as a test power supply forinduction motors, fans, transformers, pumps, controllers, home electronics (such as washingmachines and air-conditioners),and other equipmentExample: When frequency or voltageneeds adjustment in a product test

Motor panel, reactor panelThey incorporate a starting circuit, protective circuit, and measurement circuitfor motors. They also incorporate an automatic powerfactor regulator (APFR) as well.

M-G set (synchronous motor - synchronousgenerator)The synchronous motor can adjust the fieldcurrent, thereby controlling the operatingpower factor. The M-G set uses a synchronous motor (10-pole) and a synchronous generator (12-pole),so that the output frequency of the generatorcan be kept at 60 Hz unless the frequency ofthe input power supply of the motor changes.

Generator panelThe automatic voltage regulator (AVR) isused to control the output voltage of thegenerator at a constant level.

Motor panelIt incorporates a starting circuit, protectivecircuit, and measurement circuit for motors.

M-G set (induction motor - synchronousmotor)It uses an induction motor and a synchronousgenerator. It can convert the frequency of the inputpower supply of the motor by using aninverter, thereby changing the outputfrequency of the generator.

Generator panelIt uses an automatic voltage regulator (AVR)to control the output voltage of the generatorat a constant level at all times.

Inverter panelIt converts the commercial power supplyinput by using an inverter and changes themotor speed.

Voltage waveform of generatorsThe output voltage waveform of the synchronous generator is a neat sine waveand does not include harmonics.

- Properties: Waveform distortion, 5% or less

- Example of measurement of a no-load voltage waveform

Overload resistance and short-circuit current

The generator is of the rotary type, so that it has high overload resistance and cansupply power to loads that need large starting currents such as those from motors.

- Overload resistance : 110% - 60 minutes- Over-current resistance : 150% - 15 seconds

Other properties (characteristics)

The output side uses no inverter or other harmonics-generating equipment, so that the load side is completelyprotected from the effects of harmonics.

Harmonics

Even if an instantaneous voltage drop occurs in the commercialpower supply system, the flywheel effect of the rotor keeps theload side unaffected.A flywheel can be added to extend the warranty period ofinstantaneous voltage drops.

Instantaneousvoltage drop

It can be used under general conditions with an ambienttemperature of -5 to 40°C and a humidity of 85% or less. Therefore, although air supply and ventilation equipment inconsideration of temperature rises is necessary, no air-conditioning equipment is necessary.

Example of connecting a single unit when two units are operating in parallel

To run two or more generatorssynchronously, the voltage, frequency, and phase must bematched and the units must beelectrically linked together. Butthe input is a commercial powersupply, so that a device (rollingequipment) must be installed torotate the generator stator inorder to adjust the phasedifference.
