In al l stages of planning for the reopening of school , Moorestown Fr iends is closely monitor ingand fol lowing the guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Inaddit ion, we have strong relat ionships with local health authorit ies in order to stay current onthe latest facts , mit igat ion strategies, and response efforts in the face of COVID-19. MFS isensuring that our reopening plans al ign with the requirements and expectat ions out l ined byGovernor Murphy in the State’s The Road Back: Restart and Recovery Plan for Education(Executive Summary or Ful l Plan). In addit ion to many other resources, we have consideredrecommendations from the Chi ldren’s Hospital of Phi ladelphia Pol icyLab and the Harvard T.H.Chan School of Publ ic Health , which have both provided helpful perspectives to schools on howto safely reopen.

We have also cal led upon the expert ise of a number of alumni , parents of alumni , and otherfr iends of MFS with extensive background in a var iety of industr ies outside of K-12 educationthat can inform our thinking on reopening school in a careful and intent ional way. Theseadvisors include:

In the face of COVID-19, there is unfortunately no approach that wi l l guarantee safety at al lt imes. Reopening school means there wi l l be some level of inherent r isk. Moorestown Fr iendsis taking a layered approach to our planning, employing a number of strategies and tact ics toreduce r isk to chi ldren, adults , and famil ies. There is no single solut ion to the chal lenges thatl ie ahead, but we have taken steps to create the healthiest classrooms, bui ldings, procedures, and pol ic ies possible so that students can focus on learning in a car ing environment. We alsorely on you! No single person can greet this chal lenge alone. We depend on students, employees, and famil ies to collaborate and cooperate with us, and we promise tocommunicate often with you as the situat ion evolves. We know you place great trust inMoorestown Fr iends School , and we place our trust in our community so that together we cannavigate this pandemic.

Our goal is to have al l students on campus when possible. Current plans cal l for a differentschedule in the f i rst days of school to accommodate a var iety of new procedures, screenings, and other rout ines that wi l l look quite different from years past. We wi l l remaincommunicat ive and wi l l provide more information in the weeks leading up to September.

CREATING A LAYERED APPROACH

COMMUNITY RESPONSIBILITIES

Complete a dai ly symptom survey for each chi ld pr ior to arr iv ing on

campus.

Keep your chi ld at home if they show any signs of i l lness.

Keep your chi ld home if they, others in your household, or someone close

to your chi ld are exposed to or test posit ive for COVID-19; contact the

school immediately.

Pick up your chi ld promptly i f they show symptoms of i l lness and need to

go home.

Fol low federal , state , and local orders regarding social distancing and

other measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Provide your chi ld with a face cover ing on a dai ly basis.

Pract ice and reinforce healthy behaviors at home.

Keep your medical information current with the school .

We al l p lay an important role in preventing the spread of i l lness on campus. In advance of the school year , a l l famil ies wi l l be asked to sign the Healthand Wellness Pledge as part of a special commitment in the coming year tosafeguard our community from COVID-19. Although a more detai led form wi l lbe coming later this summer, the key expectat ions we have of our famil iesinclude the fol lowing:

Page 8: M O O R E S T O W N F R I E N D S S C H O O L R E T U R N ... · T A B L E O F C O N T E N T S M O O R E S T O W N F R I E N D S S C H O O L | R E T U R N T O S C H O O L 2 0 2 0

HEALTH & HYGIENE

In accordance with CDC recommendations and guidance from the State of New Jersey, MFSwil l work with our community to maintain social distance between members wheneverpossible. We are working to measure and adapt classrooms, move desks, remove furniturewhen needed, and rearrange seating to faci l i tate social distancing. Where social distanceis not possible , we are adding part i t ions and direct ing students to wear face coverings.

The current guidance from the State of New Jersey is that al l school staff and visitors arerequired to wear face coverings unless doing so would inhibit an individual ’s health or i fthe visi tor is under two years of age. All students are required to wear face coverings i fsocial distancing measures cannot be maintained (unless doing so would inhibit astudent ’s health). In classrooms, hal lways, bathrooms, or other common spaces wheresocial distance cannot easi ly be maintained, students are expected to wear face coverings. For our youngest students , i t may not be real ist ic to keep a face covering on a chi ld , normay i t be advisable. Given the l imited mixing of our youngest students with other cohortsand our smal l c lass sizes at those grade levels , we wi l l re ly on our teachers to use theirbest judgment i f students are struggl ing to keep face coverings on. We wi l l a lso spacechi ldren out as often as possible , especial ly dur ing recess, naps, and mealt imes, so thatstudents can be without cover ings.

MFS wil l provide a face covering to students at the start of the year, but i t is advisable tohave several at home that f i t the student and are comfortable to wear for extended per iodsof t ime. Experts recommend masks that f i t snugly , are ideal ly three layers thick, and aremade of more t ight ly-woven fabr ics, such as 100% cotton. Given that face coverings shouldbe washed regular ly , i t is a good idea to have a rotat ion of cover ings to choose from.

MOORESTOWN FRIENDS SCHOOL | RETURN TO SCHOOL 2020 8

SOCIAL DISTANCING & FACE COVERINGS

At school , students and employees can reduce the spread of COVID-19 by maintaining healthybehaviors , including regular handwashing, the use of face coverings, good coughing et iquette ,social distancing, reduced mixing between groups, and l imited sharing of suppl ies ormater ials. Staying home when exhibit ing any signs of i l lness is part icularly important and weask that al l famil ies adhere to this request. MFS wi l l work hard to ensure chi ldren remainconnected to their c lassrooms, and teachers wi l l make reasonable adjustments to supportstudents’ continued learning. In this way, no one wi l l need to take the r isk of coming to schoolwhen sick. Al l of these layered tact ics wi l l mit igate the overal l r isk to the community.

Page 9: M O O R E S T O W N F R I E N D S S C H O O L R E T U R N ... · T A B L E O F C O N T E N T S M O O R E S T O W N F R I E N D S S C H O O L | R E T U R N T O S C H O O L 2 0 2 0

HEALTH & HYGIENE

Faculty/staff may wear clear face shields when able to maintain social distance from students, which may make i t easier to instruct and for students to understand both the words andemotions of the teacher. When working in close proximity with students and when socialdistancing cannot be maintained, employees are expected to wear masks.

We know that the idea of a chi ld wearing a face covering al l day may not seem pract ical orreal ist ic , depending on the age of the chi ld. For chi ldren and employees al ike , wearing facecoverings every day may become fat iguing and frustrat ing. We wi l l work hard, especial ly asweather permits , to bring chi ldren outside as much as possible and to encourage “face coveringbreaks” when appropriate (such as outside t ime when social distancing can be maintained). Bytaking advantage of lower-r isk t imes to take a break from face coverings, we bel ieve thatstudents and employees wi l l be more l ikely to wear them during higher-r isk act iv i t ies.

MOORESTOWN FRIENDS SCHOOL | RETURN TO SCHOOL 2020 9

SOCIAL DISTANCING & FACE COVERINGS, CONT'D

In al l d iv isions we are working to l imit the mixing of chi ldren and adults when appropriate andkeeping class groups as separate and dist inct as possible. In the Lower School for example, thiswi l l mean special area teachers coming to students, as opposed to students travel ing betweenclassrooms. In the Middle and Upper School , i t wi l l mean special ly designed schedules that havelonger class per iods to al low for more in-depth learning opportunit ies , whi le also reducingmovement between classes throughout the day whenever feasible. Although we cannot el iminatemixing between cohorts , we wi l l s ignif icantly reduce points of contact in order to reduce thepotential for v i ral spread and to faci l i tate contact tracing should a case of COVID-19 presenti tself in our community. See the Teaching & Learning sect ion for more detai ls on the cohortconcept and academic experience.

HEALTH & HYGIENE

We ask that students and employees share materials and supplies as l i t t le as possible. In LowerSchool , students wi l l have their own sets of suppl ies that wi l l be stored and labeled separately. In al l grades, we ask that students not share devices, food, school suppl ies, or other i tems in aneffort to reduce the spread of germs. I f this is not possible , disinfect ing wipes wi l l be avai lablein areas where shared i tems are l ikely to be found, so students can clean i tems between users.Locker use wi l l be discouraged and l imited to avoid congregating in the hal lways in a way thatmakes maintaining social distance diff icult .

LIMITING CONTACT CHAINS, CONT'D

Handwashing with soap and water forat least 20 seconds should take placeafter going to the bathroom,before/after eat ing, after blowingone’s nose, coughing, or sneezing. I fsoap and water are not avai lable andhands are not v isibly dirty , an alcohol-based hand sanit izer that contains atleast 60% alcohol is recommended.MFS is instal l ing touchless handsanit izer dispensers in everyclassroom and at key entry/exitpoints on campus. We are also addinghandwashing stations in keylocations in addit ion to bathrooms(which wi l l have a l imit on the numberof students al lowed at any giventime). Faculty and staff wi l lencourage students to wash handsfrequently throughout the day, andlonger passing per iods have beenbui l t into the schedule to encouragestudents to remain vigi lant in theirhandwashing pract ices.

HEALTH & HYGIENE

MFS wil l adhere to current cleaning practices and protocols and wi l l stay informed of any newguidance from local health authorit ies. In addit ion, we are developing a schedule of more regularcleaning/disinfect ing of high-touch surfaces throughout the day. Special attent ion wi l l be givento classroom surfaces, bathrooms, door handles, shared objects , and high-traff ic areas.Disinfect ing suppl ies wi l l be avai lable for use in each classroom. Where disinfectants are used, products wi l l be registered with the U.S. Environmental Protect ion Agency.

The school is also instal l ing clear plexiglass shields in areas where there is frequent face-to-face interact ion (front desk, l ibrary desk, business off ice, div ision off ices, etc.) . To avoidcrowding in bathrooms and locker rooms , l imited capacit ies wi l l be put in place. Water fountainswil l not be in use next year , but water f i l l ing stations wi l l st i l l be accessible and regular lydisinfected. We encourage students to br ing their own water bott les to campus in an effort topromote hydrat ion, encourage sustainable pract ices, and l imit the spread of germs.

When possible , we wi l l encourage the opening of windows and doors to increase air f low , d i luteany airborne virus that might be present , and introduce fresh air into learning spaces. Weatherpermitt ing, teachers wi l l be encouraged to take classes outside, and outdoor learning spaces wi l lbe maximized and avai lable for use. We are conducting a review of our HVAC systems andadding stronger f i l ters to those that may benefit f rom upgrades. To the extent possible , we wi l lminimize recirculat ion of indoor air .

Students who show any signs or symptoms of i l lness that could be passed on to others wi l l notbe al lowed to attend school . I f students are wel l enough to attend classes, reasonableaccommodations wi l l be made for those students to join on-campus learning through vir tualchannels (Zoom, Google Meet , etc) . What this looks l ike may vary from division to div ision, depending on what is developmental ly appropriate for the age of the chi ld. Attendance pol ic ieswil l be f lexible , and students wi l l not be penal ized i f they are sick. We wi l l have measures inplace to pr ior i t ize students ' continuity of learning i f they are absent for extended per iods oft ime.

We wi l l be using a COVID-19 screening and tracking app designed for K-12 schools.Parents/guardians wi l l be asked to complete a quick symptom survey on behalf of their chi ldon a dai ly basis in order to come to school . In addit ion to checking for a range of symptoms,parents/guardians wi l l be asked to take their chi ld ’s temperature, so every family must have aworking thermometer at home for dai ly use. This wi l l help us work col laborat ively with famil iesto make MFS as safe and healthy as possible. Symptom surveys wi l l a lso be used by employeeson a dai ly basis , and approved visi tors to campus must adhere to the same requirements.

MFS is creating addit ional space on campus to accommodate students or adults who showsigns of i l lness dur ing the school day and need to go home. By having a separate space, i t wi l la l low us to continue to serve students in need of f i rst aid or other services in the Nurse’soff ice, whi le keeping those with symptoms in an isolated and discreet space unt i l they arepicked up by their parent/guardian. We encourage anyone with symptoms of COVID-19 oranyone who has come in contact with someone who has COVID-19 to seek diagnostic viraltesting and to maintain communicat ion with the school . The CRS is current ly developingspecif ic response protocols , in coordinat ion with our county health off ic ials , should weencounter a case of COVID-19 on campus.

Famil ies who have part icular concern for the health of their chi ldren due to preexist ingcondit ions or other high-risk categories should contact the appropriate Division Director assoon as possible , so that we can work with your family to address your concerns and providesupport .

The school day this year wi l l take place from 8:15 a.m. unti l3:15 p.m. Our goal is to maximize on-campus learning withchi ldren i f permitted by the State and if we deem it appropriatefor our community. Depending on The Road Back reopeningplan from New Jersey, this may mean that al l students are oncampus, we are experiencing a modif ied campus schedule , orwe are operat ing completely onl ine. We wi l l be creat ively usinglarge spaces on campus in an effort to welcome back as manystudents as possible according to health and safety guidel ines. This may mean unconventional c lassrooms l ike the Auditor iumor a gymnasium. We bel ieve priorit izing having students oncampus wi l l provide a greater benefit to student learning, whichoutweighs any potential downsides of using non-tradit ionallearning spaces.

We have revamped the Virtual MFS experience in al l d iv isionsbased on our l ived experiences this spr ing and on addit ionalresearch and planning this summer. We have also required in-depth professional development for al l faculty this summer inan effort to strengthen our abi l i ty to pivot from in-person toonl ine learning and to maximize diverse learning modal i t ies.We are support ing our faculty to re-envision what hybr idlearning could look l ike should students part ic ipate in classremotely or in person on any given day. Technologyinvestments wi l l a l low students to part ic ipate more easi ly intheir learning and for teachers to stay connected to studentsno matter the context.

TEACHING & LEARNING

MOORESTOWN FRIENDS SCHOOL | RETURN TO SCHOOL 2020 13

Flexibi l i ty is the key for the coming school year. This means f lexibi l i ty for our school to pivot onl ine asthe health situat ion evolves and f lexibi l i ty for students

to part ic ipate in learning according to their needs.

Page 14: M O O R E S T O W N F R I E N D S S C H O O L R E T U R N ... · T A B L E O F C O N T E N T S M O O R E S T O W N F R I E N D S S C H O O L | R E T U R N T O S C H O O L 2 0 2 0

LEARNING SCENARIOSThe fol lowing four learning scenarios al low for the f lexibi l i ty needed to quickly pivot and adaptas the guidance for schools changes. From al l in-person learning on campus to al l - remotelearning from home, we have designed scenarios to adjust to the latest guidance from the CDCand the State of New Jersey. Our plan is to open in the Modif ied In-Person Learning scenarioand remain in this mode as long as possible. In addit ion to al lowing for 100% in-personlearning, i t also gives famil ies the f lexibi l i ty to have their chi ld learn remotely, i fnecessary.  Please note that whi le in Modif ied In-Person Learning, the remote experience for achi ld wi l l not be l ike Virtual MFS, nor wi l l i t completely repl icate in-person learning. Steps wi l l betaken to keep students engaged in classroom lessons in ways that are developmental lyappropriate and technological ly feasible. I f there is a need to reduce the number of people oncampus at any point , we may move to Modif ied Remote Learning. In this case our pr ior i ty wi l l beto ensure Preschool - Grade 6 can be accommodated for in-person learning dai ly and Grades 7-12wil l have an alternat ing in-person schedule. For detai ls , see the Middle/Upper School Schedulesection below.

TECHNOLOGY & ACCESSIn an effort to provide maximum f lexibi l i ty and equitable access, MFSwil l loan Chromebooks to al l students this year in Preschool - Grade12. This 1:1 program is designed to address the unique chal lenges ofthe 2020-21 school year and wi l l e l iminate the need for students toshare computers by providing everyone with their own device. Shouldwe f ind ourselves in Virtual MFS for extended per iods of t ime, thesedevices wi l l a l low even our youngest learners a way to seamlesslyaccess their teachers and connect with classmates in adevelopmental ly appropriate way. As we did last year , we wi l l surveyfamil ies about Internet connectiv i ty and other technology needs toensure an equitable experience for al l . More information, forms, andtraining wi l l be forthcoming, but we hope this investment oftechnology wi l l ease concerns and provide an adequateinfrastructure to help students complete their studies and maintaincontact with the community should they be home for per iods of t imethis year. In addit ion, portable Smartboards and TVs wi l l be used inany adapted classrooms, Wi-Fi infrastructure wi l l be enhanced tosupport the added traff ic of the 1:1 program, and technology supportwil l be extended to al l students and famil ies whi le in remote mode toensure al l necessary resources are adequately accessible.

HYBRID LEARNINGWe recognize that although our goal is on-campus learning for al lstudents on a dai ly basis , this may not always be possible for avar iety of reasons. Some famil ies may not be able to have theirchi ldren return to campus for reasons related to the virus. There mayalso be t imes when we elect or are asked to de-densify our campusby having cohorts of students continue their learning from home on arotat ing basis. By using technology to extend the reach of ourclassrooms , MFS students can maintain their dai ly learning scheduleremotely , e i ther in ful l or in part (depending on the developmentalneeds of the student) . Al l c lassrooms wi l l be equipped with remotecapabi l i ty , and students wi l l have school- issued Chromebooks,al lowing them to successful ly part ic ipate in classroom experiences.Flexibi l i ty by and for students, famil ies , and the school wi l l be keythis year as the global health situat ion evolves.

Special area teachers wi l l work with students in their home classroom tominimize movement throughout the bui lding. The Lower School schedules wi l l largely resemblethose of years past and wi l l accommodate changes to outdoor recess schedules and al low foreasier pivot ing between in-person and remote learning. Classroom instruction wi l l happen inthe typical manner whi le adhering to appropriate distancing guidel ines. During prolongedabsences, students wi l l be able to connect to their c lass remotely for select lessons andactiv i t ies. Teachers wi l l a lso send work home for students. Students in Grades 5-12 wi l l experience a new f ive-day rotat ing schedule: ABCAB . Thisschedule offers consistency for students whether we are al l in person or al l onl ine. We expectto open school in the Modif ied In-Person Learning scenario and hope to remain in this modeas long as the guidance al lows. Some basic features of the ABCAB schedule are:

This schedule al lows us to adjust quickly from Modif ied In-Person Learning to Modif ied RemoteLearning, and even to Virtual MFS, i f needed. The schedule wi l l remain the same in al l learningscenarios. The longer blocks of class t ime help reduce the number of people that students andadults have contact with each day. They also provide teachers with the abi l i ty to go in greaterdepth, and complete laborator ies, projects , or col laborat ive work. Students may f ind they havehomework for fewer subjects each night since their c lasses do not meet dai ly . We have groupedstudents in Grades 5-10 into cohorts that have as much common class t ime together aspossible to reduce interact ion with others. Given the unique nature of student schedules in

MOORESTOWN FRIENDS SCHOOL | RETURN TO SCHOOL 2020 1 9

Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) is anintegral part of teaching and learning and isfoundational to the MFS community. SEL isdefined as the process through which chi ldrenand adults understand and manage emotions, setand achieve posit ive goals , establ ish andmaintain posit ive relat ionships, and makeresponsible decisions. As we reopen school , werecognize the complex and varying ways in whichour community members are experiencing thispandemic, including a range of emotions relatedto stress, anxiety , t rauma, loss and isolat ion. Weplan to strengthen our SEL competencies andsupport structures to broaden our def init ion ofwhat learning is and where i t takes place tocreate a more inclusive and equitable learningenvironment and community.

SUPPORT RESOURCESAt MFS we wi l l continue to assess the social and emotional needs of our students, famil iesand educators and the impact that social isolat ion has had on the way we re-engage andreconnect as a community. MFS has intent ional structures in place ( i .e. , our advisoryprogram) to promote supportive adult-student relat ionships to ensure that every studenthas a car ing adult in the community who checks in with them regular ly and to whom they canreach out. Our community members have access to mental health , t rauma, and learningsupport resources. In addit ion, we plan to provide resources and programming to helpfamil ies through this transit ion back to school . Webinar offer ings may include: chi ldren’suse of screen t ime, deal ing with feel ings of isolat ion and fear , and the impact of race andtrauma.

There wi l l be v ir tual welcome sessions in l ieu of ourAl l School Picnic on Tuesday, September 8. In addit ion, we are planning for :

DIVERSITY, EQUITY, & INCLUSIONWe recognize that the global pandemic has exposed and exacerbated exist ing inequit ies inour school community and society at large. In addit ion, current events have put systemicinequit ies at the forefront for us to examine how we engage around these important topicswhi le upholding the commitment to maintain a safe environment for al l students. Werecognize one important component of SEL is bui lding social awareness and perspective-taking ski l ls which include empathy bui lding, appreciat ing diversity , and respect and dignityof others. We wi l l a im to faci l i tate developmental ly appropriate conversat ions around bias, prejudice, and st igma and use our community norms to guide our dialogue. We wi l l continueto provide resources for our community to engage around these topics and address anyemerging equity chal lenges that we may face. We wi l l continue to offer studentprogramming, aff ini ty spaces, professional development for faculty and staff , and Diversityand Inclusion events for famil ies.

ATHLETICS & EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIESMFS recognizes that athlet ics, c lubs, and other act iv i t ies are important physical and socialout lets for students, and we hope to maintain these act iv i t ies as much as possible this comingyear. That being said , students and famil ies should expect modif icat ions to these experiencesin order to reduce r isk.

Athlet icsAthlet ics are a cr i t ical part of school l i fe and we plan to maintain the experience to the ful lestextent possible in al l scenarios dur ing this school year ( in person, hybr id , and vir tual) . TheNJSIAA has created a COVID-19 Medical Advisory Task Force and Sports Advisory Task Forcethat wi l l work direct ly with the NJSIAA to provide guidel ines for interscholast ic athlet ics thisyear. Whi le we are wait ing for the release of the start of fal l pract ices and competit ions, theNJSIAA has shared that there is a real ist ic chance that the start of fal l regular seasonpract ices may be delayed (from August 17) , but i t is too ear ly to provide any t ime framesurrounding a potential delay. As a result , we ask that you continue to hold August 17 as aplaceholder for the start of preseason and continue to fol low the summer workout schedulethat each varsity coach has provided each team. This wi l l help ensure student-athletes areprepared for the start of the season. We also encourage you to submit al l paperwork requiredto part ic ipate in athlet ics, which is due on August 7. The CRS Athlet ics subcommittee isplanning for al l scenarios so we are ready to welcome you back to athlet ics. An update on fal lathlet ics wi l l be sent as soon as information becomes avai lable.

The Dining Hal l Commons wi l l not be used forlunch this year. In addit ion to this space beingrepurposed for other needs, i t is not recommendedto have students and employees gather ing for abuffet-style lunch, as we have in the past. For the2020-21 school year , our partners at SAGE wi l lprepare boxed lunches that can be pre-ordered byfamil ies as part of a lunch contract. These boxedlunches wi l l be consumed in classrooms oroutside, depending on the age. Students are alsowelcome to br ing their own food from home, butrefr igerat ion wi l l not be avai lable. GROUP EVENTS & GATHERINGSWe wil l have no large-group gather ings or events in the Auditor ium, Dining Hal l Commons, gyms, or other large gather ing spaces. We wi l l st i l l pr ior i t ize Meeting for Worship andworshipful experiences as a core part of our program, but we wi l l not gather in the MeetingHouse. Whi le this saddens us to make this decision, we also recognize that we cannoteffect ively maintain social distance in this and other spaces on campus, whi leaccommodating large numbers of students and faculty. Similar ly , assemblies and otherindoor gatherings wi l l e i ther take place outside or onl ine, depending on the content of theactiv i ty . At least through January (f i rst semester) , i f not the ent ire year , visitors to campuswil l be l imited to appointment-only , with specif ic health and safety protocols and proceduresin place. This means that parent/guardian activit ies , such as Back to School Night , guestspeaker events, and teacher conferences, wi l l happen vir tual ly . Other broader campus eventswil l be considered on a case-by-case basis to determine i f they wi l l be held v ir tual ly ,reconceived, or canceled for the coming year. In the near term, volunteers on campus wi l lnot be encouraged.

OVERNIGHT & FIELD TRIPSMFS has made the decision to postpone (when possible) or cancel any overnight tr ipsscheduled through the end of January. Similar ly , no f ie ld tr ips that require bus/cartransportat ion wi l l take place in the f i rst semester. We wi l l revisi t the latest guidance andthe current infect ion rates in our area later in the school year to determine our pol icy for thesecond semester.

Due to the heavy planning, coordinat ion, and complexity of Intensive Learning ( IL) , we havemade the diff icult but proactive decision to completely reconceive MS/US Intensive Learningfor 2021 as an on-campus experience. More detai ls wi l l be forthcoming, but we ant icipatethis wi l l be an excit ing and unique opportunity that st i l l meets the learning goals of IL ,al lows our teachers ample t ime to bui ld out meaningful experiences, and accounts for theunpredictable global health landscape of the coming year.

DROP OFF/PICK UP, EXTENDED DAY, & AFTER SCHOOL SUPERVISIONThe school day this year runs from 8:15 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. MFS is planning for staggered dropoff and pick up t imes to reduce congestion on campus at the start and end of the day. Dropoff wi l l take place from 7:45 - 8:15 a.m. and pick up from 3:15 - 3:45 p.m. Parents/guardiansor other caretakers wi l l not be able to walk their chi ld into the bui ldings, as we are l imit ingvisitors to campus to appointment-only and only al lowing campus personnel and students intobui ldings for the near term. That being said , parents/guardians who wish to park and walktheir chi ld up to an outside door in order to connect with the receiving teacher are welcome todo so. We are developing protocols for drop off/pick up so that your chi ld can safely enter thebui lding using designated entrances. Detai ls and specif ic instruct ions wi l l be forthcomingabout drop off/pick up procedures.

We expect to provide Extended Day (both before and after care for Preschool - Grade 4) andAfter School Supervision (Grades 5-12) for those famil ies who need i t . Depending on thenumber of famil ies who part ic ipate, we may need to use addit ional spaces to faci l i tate socialdistancing. I f you do not absolutely need this care this coming year , we would encourage youto drop off and pick up your chi ld at the designated t imes. More detai ls on these programs wi l lbe provided before the start of the year. Please note that Lower School After School Clubs wi l lnot be offered through January , though we may reconsider this decision for the secondsemester.
