Every child has three basic needs:
1. Autonomy, being somebody• A 4-year-old can make up his own stories, he is the storyteller
2. Competence, being capable of doing things• Bilingual child can ‘read’ these books
3. Relations, being part of something• Whilst talking about the pictures, children can construct stories
together

He won several prices for his illustrations, for the picture books without words and for his complete works.
