My number one strength is learner. I am the individual that is passionate about gaining
more knowledge and improving my skills. I also seek the opportunity to overcome my
weaknesses. As a leaner, I love to be alone when it comes to analyzing ideas, processing plans,
and studying topics. When it comes to completing my task, I avoid distractions. When I study I
need complete silence, and cero interruptions. For most of my assignments, I go beyond the
expectations by dissecting topics and ideas. I enjoy looking deeper into details. One of the
qualities as a learner is determining and following the objective. If something doesn’t have an
objective, a goal or a purpose in every activity I do, I establish an objective. My motivation
comes from knowing that every task presented to me is done with a purpose. A description given
by Gallup is “ a learner looks forward to reviewing results with individuals who understand
education is a process that continues throughout one’s life.” This statement defines my belief in
education. I truly value education and scholarship. By recognizing this strength, I can
understand why I posses a strong passion for education. This links to my long-term goal, as I
seek to pursue a degree in the education field, for instance in educational policy. I’m part of
various scholarship programs that don’t financially fund me, but I’m living out this strength by
receiving all the learning and growth they provide. By understanding my top strength as a
learner, I come realize why I receive so much pleasure when I gain additional knowledge, skills,
experiences and more. I have been and continue to be the young girl that delights from
workshops, seminars, informational meetings, and panels on interesting topics.
Secondly, I obtain the strength of responsibility. This means that I take ownership on my
word. I feel proud to have this strength since this represents that commitment and stability I have
in my values, morals, and my word. This strength links to maximizer since I attain to perform in
high standards of excellence. I have learned that this strength gives me the characteristic of
working carefully and with accountability. I believe that my parents implemented this
characteristic in me since a child, and with time it developed to be my strength. I carry out this
strength when I give my word to a commitment and follow through with my action. I have seen
how this strength has opened doors in my life. I have become the coordinator of many programs
such as the Children Church Ministry in my Church, and other leadership positions. I have seen
how others have found me to be reliable and dependable. I also recognize that weakness of this
strength. . A weakness is that due to my sense of responsibility, I tend to commit myself to
several opportunities. I’m learning to say “ NO,” which is a big challenge. When I’m working in
a group I lean to take all the responsibility, many times completing groups project by myself.
Through my leadership roles I’m learning to spread responsibilities with my team members.

a group I lean to take all the responsibility, many times completing groups project by myself.
Through my leadership roles I’m learning to spread responsibilities with my team members.
Since by doing this it will contribute to their growth, development and ownership of the team.
I’m fascinated with the distinctive qualities of each person. When it comes to leading a
group, I’m gifted to figure out how a diverse group can work together fruitfully. This defines the
strength of individualization. Through out my life, I have played the role of a mother, counselor,
advisor and assisting others with my opinions, ideas and advice. I have seen that people seek me
for advice. I understand that this is due to my ability of individualization. I hold strong to my
values and express my stand in any topic. I love analyzing people and getting to know them
deeper. I’m the person that asks deep questions, and loves to make valuable friendship. One of
my passions is to assist others to accomplish any task. I recognize how every person can become
efficient in a situation. I’m the planner girl; the one who enjoys filing documents, makes list,
established schedules and more. I establish everything in a logical series of steps and I make sure
they are executed. With this strength I have learned to extend and use it to the max.
Another strength I have is maximizer. A word that describes this strength is “excellence.” I
obtain satisfaction when I complete my delegations with my greatest effort. I struggle with this
strength since sometimes I come out as a perfectionist. I have realized that sometimes this
strength becomes one of my weaknesses. Especially when I work in a team and their max is just
completing the assignment. In the other hand, I’m not content by just completing the assignment
but by doing with excellence and quality. Many times I’m to harsh on myself, since I feel that
everything I do needs to be excellent, good is not enough. When it comes to class coursework
I’m not completely satisfy with a 90% when the maximum was 100%. As a maximizer I perform
better when I have multiple task to complete in one day. I love the feeling of productivity. Gallup
says, that when a maximizer is “being asked to give all [their] mental and physical energy to
a single activity it might erode the quality of [their] results. This has been proven in my life.
I struggle more when I have a few tasks. It causes procrastination and less motivation. My best
days are those that are loaded to maximum, and my results will be great. Also, I have learned
that I make more progress when I’m given the opportunity to work independently.
Herm Albright once said “ A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will
annoy enough people to make it worth the effort.” I’m the young lady who is full of joy, passion
and optimistic perspective. My positivity brings out attitudes that help bring strength, energy and
initiative to others. I obtain the talent to encourage others and make them feel good and proud
about themselves. My first tell me that I’m good at giving words of affirmation and recognition.
This strength allows me to see life as a blessing full of opportunities. This strength has sustained
me in difficult times in my life. I always like to look the positive side of any situations. I live out
this strength every day as I show a cheerful attitude. The weakness of this strength is that many
times I don’t take the time to process bad things that happen to me, since I focus on the good
things. One of the greatest rewards I receive in life is when I encourage others. With this
strength I’m learning to demonstrate to others even though I’m optimistic, sometimes I have
difficult feeling that provoke other emotions.
After discussing my top five strengths, I would also like to point out that fact that I also
identify with other strengths. Those include: adaptability, arranger, includer, relator, and
achiever. I took this strength quest inventory two years ago, and I had the curiosity to see if my
strengths changed. I retook this test this week as the results show above. I was shocked to see
that only one of my strengths changed. I went from a maximizer to an achiever. Also, I noticed
the order of my strengths changed except learner. Furthermore, I will like to briefly describe my
strength as an achiever. I’m a hard worker and my satisfaction is from being busy. Many of my
friends call me “ busy bee.”
Assessment on my authentic happiness survey:
In the book Strength based Leadership Tom Rath emphasis that need for a leader to
recognize his/her strengths. He states, “ A leader needs to know his strengths as a carpenter know
his tools, as a physician knows the instruments at her disposal.” After examining and assessing
my personal strengths I would discuss my character strength. My top five strengths from the
authentic happiness survey are: spiritually, gratitude, kindness, hope and honesty. As soon I saw
the results, I got goose bumps in my body. I was stunned to see how the survey’s results
described exactly whom I am and whom I see myself as.
One of my core values is faith. My spirituality in God defines who I am. Spirituality is one
of the strongest characteristics in my life. I strongly believe that everything happens with a
purpose, that every individual has a purpose in life. My belief in God shapes my decisions, as he
is my ultimate source. My second character strength is gratitude, the act of expressing thanks.
This impacts me as a leader since I treasure that opportunity given and I don’t take them for
granted. With this strength I’m allowed to appreciate my role, my members, the accomplishment
and every aspect of a circumstance. Another strength is kindness and generosity, described as
having a willing heart to serve others. I can own this strength since no matter the life
circumstance I’m never too busy to do a favor and deeds for others. In addition, I’m hope,
optimistic, and future- minded. This strength links to my positivity strength and adds the
characteristic of futuristic. As a leader this character strengths allow me to be generous, provide
hope and see future goals in any organization. In our reading, hope was defined to be one of the
reasons why people follow a leader. My fifth strength is honesty, authenticity and genuineness.
This strength allows me to fulfill another follower’s basic need, which is trust.
Assessment on my Keirsey survey results:
My temperament is portrait as a guardian. Defined to be a person who serves and preserves
significant social institutions. Some of the characteristic I posses are: dependability, resourceful,
hard working, loyalty, responsibility, cautious, grateful, and integrity. The results demonstrate
that many of my personal characteristic fit into the core traits of being a guardian. As a guardian
I have the skill to keep things running smoothly. I have seen my self as a guardian, by holding up
my family, contributing to my community, rehabilitation center and my church. I understand
playtime and work time. I definitely understand my duties and responsibilities. As well I tend to
honor my values, traditions and customs. Another characteristics of guardian is that they are
meticulous. I find myself being that meticulous person who must follow schedule and specific
procedures. Of course, I recognize that sometime I must be flexible, but I’m very careful when it
comes to changes. I’m also analytical in the process of events. People that obtain this personality
ended up doing essential but thankless jobs. I’ve been involved in many community service and
volunteer events. I do it with a passion and I give it my best, since I find purpose and
satisfaction. I have received judgments and compliments about this kind of personality. Many
don’t understand why I dedicate so much of my energy, love, and time to organizations like
hospitals where I don’t get pay, or receive anything in return. Many don’t understand that I value
the opportunities given to show my guardian personality. In leadership positions this personality
plays off by becoming an active leader or member. As a guardian I keep loyal and responsible to
any task I commit to. My goal as leader is to continue to facilitate harmonious relationships and
keep been a protective leader who seeks out the best for team members.
How can you use these strengths and skills in leadership roles?
Service is my calling! With the strengths that I have been granted, I believe that I can
contribute greatly in any role and/or organization. After analyzing and learning more about my
strengths I became empowered to take more actions. I realized that not everyone has the
strengths I have. Realizing that every individual possesses his or her own unique leadership
strengths. Honestly, I’m proud of the strengths that I obtain. I value them since I believe they
shape who I am, and how I contribute in this society. I believe in the powerful statement that a
leader must be a learner. Learner is my number one top strength. I strongly believe that this is a
strong characteristic that is useful in any leadership position. I’m a leader that doesn’t always
know everything, but has the desire to learn and give her maximum. The process of great
leadership is having the disposition of learning and improving. In my life journey I have learned
to be understanding of my team members, know how they work productively, and be aware of
their necessities. I believe that learning is a life long process. Every opportunity whether is in
leadership or not, it always has room for learning to take place. I learn to give my best, which
bring out my strength as a maximizer. This strength allows me to contribute with excellence.
This strength becomes a challenge when in occasions you need to create something from scratch.
I have faced this challenge when I become part of a disorganized institution and I feel like is my
responsibility to take the organization to the high level of excellence. I live out this strength in
every aspect of my life. Having this strength allow me to help others exceed and complete any
task. I seek and will continue to go beyond my duties and roles with excellence.
My responsibility strength can be used in any leadership role. This particular strength allows
me to become reliable. One my intense dislikes is unfinished work. Furthermore, any charge I’m
given, I will thrive with responsibility. The advantage of this strength is that I have the ability to
empower others by letting them know the importance of responsibility especially in leadership
roles. My duty is to learn how to distribute that responsibility to others, so that they can take
ownership on any task given, and at the same time they will gain a sense of productivity. I live
this strength out as I complete my obligations with efficiency. Responsibility falls into the
category of executing, which means things get done.
The strength of positivity allows me to provoke a drive in people. This strength descends in
the category of relationship building. Leaders that lead with relationship building become “ the
essential glue, that holds a team together.” In my leadership role this strength is lived out as I
continually energize my team. In leadership position this strength allows me to recognize the bad
things that might happen, but emphasis more in the positive side. As a leader I can use this
strength when it comes to showing appreciation and encouraging other when situations get
frustrating. Another relationship building strength I have is individualization. In a leadership
position I can contribute by determining how every member of a group can get involved. For
instance, in my role as the children church coordinator, I know the strengths of every leader,
their motivations and passions. From there I know how they can function and contribute in a
group.
My strengths fall into all four domain of leadership strength. This allows me to feel like a
well-rounded leader. My biggest contribution in leading is that ability to execute any task. This
means that with the strengths of maximizer, achiever and responsibility I will get things done. I
view myself as a leader who can be trusted that things will get done with excellence.
How does your character and personality inform your view of yourself as a leader?
My character is defined as knowing the higher purpose of life, which can be defined as
faith or spirituality. This character strength connects with the core values in my spiritual
foundations, which is God. As a Christ follower I believe that my calling as a leader is to bring
glory to God and recognize that he calls us to be leaders for his kingdom. I love what the
scriptures say about leadership in exodus 18:19-20. “Listen now to my voice; I will give you
counsel, and God will be with you: Stand before God for the people, so that you may bring the
difficulties to God. And you shall teach them the statutes and the laws, and show them the way in
which they must walk and the work they must do” To me this implies that if a leader follows the
voice of God, he will be guided by the Master. As a leader I recognize that I’m following God’s
example and people find comfort in a spiritual leader. Another character strength is gratitude;
I’m a leader that is grateful of everything. I believe that members love to hear grateful expression
for they motivate and encourage. I see that my kindness and generosity are strong traits of
leadership. I view myself as a caring leader that is willing to help and work together to make
things happen. I’m an optimistic leader that works to reach in the future. With my honesty and
authentic strength, I provide trust to others. My life style is a authentic. I’m the leader that lives
out the testimony since actions speak louder than words.
My personality as a guardian will allow me to perform with an excellence in the roles of
supervisor, protector, provider and inspector. My friends and family members have always seen
me as a “mother” nurturing and caring. This survey helped understand why my personality is so
protective. I’m the leader that fights for the room, that protects every member and treasure every
unique individual. As a guardian I love to serving.
