Mains voltage supply: Beforeconnectingtheamplifiertothelocalmainsvoltageoutletshouldbecheckedtoensuretheavailablesupplyis240V~AC50Hz.ThisproductisCLASS1andrequiresaprotectivemainsearthtobeconnectedatalltimes.DO NOTremoveordisconnecttheearth.

Power on/off procedure: Afterconnectingyouramplifiertothemains,turnallcontrolscounterclockwisetothe“0”position.Turnonaudiosources(MP3players,CDplayers,microphonesetc)beforepoweringtheamplifier“ON”.Thelastproducttobeswitchedonistheamplifier.Ifyouwishtopoweroffthesystem,turntheamplifier’smastervolumecontrolcounterclockwisetothe“0”positionbeforeswitchingtheamplifier“OFF”beforeanyaudiosourcesareswitchedoff.Byfollowingthisprocedureitwillpreventacousticshockstothespeakersorpotentialdamagetosystemcomponents.

Afterconnectingallaudiosourcesandpoweringonthemixeramplifier,adjustthelevelofeachaudioinputtoachievethedesired“mix”.Careshouldbetakentowhenadjustingmicrophoneinputvolumesandthemastervolume,adjustbothoftheseinsmallincrement’stoavoidfeedback(howlaround).Thegoalistoachieveaclearbalancebetweenmusicandvoiceensuringannouncementscanbeclearlyheard.

DC power connection: TheMA120featuresa12VDCpowerinputforoperationfromleisuretypebatteriesorfrombatteryDCbackupsources.Theamplifiershouldbeconnectedtoafused,12VDCsourceviatheDCpowerinputterminals(11)ensuringcareistakentoobservethecorrectpolarity.TheamplifierwillautomaticallytransfertoDCoperationshouldthemain240Vinputfail.Thetransferisinstantaneousandsilent.Please note:Thepoweron/offswitchdoesnothaveanycontroloverthe12VDCpowerinput.

Master volume control:

Themastervolumecontrolaffectsthelevelofallaudiosourceswithintheamplifier.Turnthelevelcontrolanti-clockwisetothelowestsetting,orturnclockwisetoadjusttheoveralloutputtothehighestsetting.Adjustmentsshouldbemadegraduallytoavoidanysuddenchangestotheaudiooutput.

Microphone inputs:

Twolowimpedancemicrophoneinputsareprovided,eachlocatedonthefrontpanelviaanunbalanced,6.35mm(¼”)jack.Eachmicrophoneinputfeaturesitsownindependentlevelcontrol.Beforeconnectingamicrophone,turnthelevelcontrolanticlockwisetothelowestsetting.Afterconnection,graduallyincreasethelevelcontrolbyturningclockwiseuntilthedesiredlevelisachieved.

Note:Unbalancedcablelengthsshouldbekepttotheminimumlengthpossible,ideallyunder20mandawayfromanypotentialsourcesofinterferenceincludingpower,speakerandcontrolcables/equipment.

Line inputs:

Theamplifierfeaturestwoaudioinputslocatedontherearpanel,eachinputfeaturesamonoRCA(phono)inputconnector.TheLINE1inputisdesignedforlinelevelsources(150mV)suchasCDplayersorMP3players.TheLINE2inputisdesignedforRIAAlevelsourcessuchasTurntables.A“Y”cablemayberequiredtocombineLeftandRightoutputsfromstereosources.

Note:Onlyoneofthetwoinputsmaybeusedatanyonetime,theselectorswitchmaybeusedtochoosefromthetwoinputs.SlidetheswitchtothelefttoselectLINE2orslidetotherighttoLINE1.

Output connections:

Theamplifiermaybeusedtodriveeitherlowimpedance(4/8/16Ω)loadsor100Vlineconstantvoltageloads,onlyoneoutputmaybeused,theamplifierisnotdesignedtodrivemultipleloadssimultaneously.

Low impedance:

Theamplifierhasbeendesignedtodriveintoloadsbetween4Ωand16Ω.Theappropriateoutputterminalshouldbeselectedtomatchtheimpedanceofthespeakerstobeconnected.Wheninstallinglowimpedancespeakersystems,thecablelengthsshouldbekepttoaminimumtohelppreventvoltagedropwithinthecable.DO NOTconnectaspeakerloadtotheamplifiersoutputterminalsoflowerimpedancethanismarkedontheoutputterminals.

100V Line:

Forlongercableruns,theamplifiermaybeusedtodrive100Vloudspeakersystemsreducinglosseswithinthecable.Connectthe100Vlinelevelloudspeakersusingaparallelwiringconfigurationtakingcaretoensuretheloadconnectedtotheamplifieriswithin85%oftheamplifiersratedwattagetoleaveappropriateheadroom.CareshouldbetakentocheckthewiringandloadforshortcircuitsbeforeconnectingthecabletotheCOMand100Vterminalsontherearpanel.
