November marks the beginning of the holiday season at MAC, and the club has countless events

and activities that serve up fun for all ages. The annual holiday guide takes a look at all of the events – holiday camps, special menus at the restaurants, the Holiday Open House and Tree Lighting, and more. Happy Holidays!

Veterans Day Holiday Camp9 a.m.-4 p.m. Wednesday Nov. 11 JS904

The Veterans Day Holiday Camp is for children ages 5 to 13. Activities include a variety of sports such as soccer, ulti-mate Frisbee and wiffle ball. Enjoy the Xbox Kinect dance party and inflatables. Swimming available for children ages 7 and older. The daily cost is $77; $93 for guests.

Join the Early Birds for their annual Turkey Trot to benefit the YWCA Wednesday, Nov. 25.

MAC offers a holiday day camp from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 11 for Veterans Day.

Kiyokawa Family Orchards Apple Harvest3-7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 20

Orchard owner Randy Kiyokawa brings more than 40 varieties of apples and pears. Fill your basket while enjoying fresh-made spiced cider, spiced cider cocktails, caramel apples, and fresh-baked apple pies in the Main Lobby. No registration required.

Racquetball Turkey Shoot4:30-10 p.m. Tuesday Nov. 24, and Wednesday Nov. 25 RB1124

Annual Turkey Shoot tournament for racquetball players of all levels. The cost is $20 for adults and $10 for juniors and includes entry, balls, food and drinks. This is another not-so-serious tourney designed to pare off a few pounds before hitting the cranberry sauce. Win a turkey!

Early Birds Turkey Trot5 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 25

Starting at 5 a.m., the Early Birds sell prize tickets for $1 each or six for $5 at a table near the Front Desk, with a party and prize drawing from 6:30-7 a.m. in the Reading Lounge. Proceeds benefit the YWCA, which provides a safe, welcoming emergency shelter and case management for families escaping domestic violence.

From Wednesday, Nov. 25, through Friday, Dec. 11, the Early Birds collect unwrapped toys for YWCA children as well as toiletries for displaced families. Donors may bring toys, soaps and other toilet-ries to the Turkey Trot or leave them in a

barrel near the Athletic Entrance. Let’s give families in need a better, brighter holiday. The Birds need your help! No registration required.

Huffin’ for the Stuffin’ Water Fitness Class9-9:45 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 26

Join us for this special Thanksgiving Day water fitness class in the Sun Deck Pool. Before your busy day begins, let Andrea leave you huffin’ for the stuffin’ with a dynamic holiday class that targets every muscle in the body. You leave class feeling exhilarated and energized to tackle the day ahead.

The Holiday Decorating Committee leaps into action Friday, Nov. 27 to decorate the club in this year’s theme, Tinseltown Holidays.

Thanksgiving Racquetball9 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 26

Join Racquetball Committee member Timm Locke for this informal event. Locke organizes players who show up at 9 a.m. There is no cost, no sign up and no food. No registration required.

Thanksgiving Turkey To-Go Meal10 a.m., noon, 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 26 Place order by Thursday, Nov. 19 Reservations are required. FB245

Pre-order a delicious Thanksgiving meal by Thursday, Nov. 19, prepared by the MAC culinary team. Pick up the meal in

the Turnaround at 10 a.m., noon or 2 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, Nov. 26.

The cost is $160 and includes a 14 to 16 pound turkey, classic sage stuffing, cranberry chutney, fall vegetables, mashed potatoes and gravy, and two pumpkin pies. Serves approximately 10 people. Questions? Call At Your Service at 503-517-7235.

Need to burn off the turkey and mashed potatoes? Stop lifting weights and start lift-ing trees!

The Holiday Decorating Committee invites all members (and even those visiting non member guest) to join the fun of deco-rating MAC for the holidays with this year’s theme – Tinseltown Holidays – beginning Friday, Nov. 27.

The committee is seeking volunteers who are creative and not-so-creative, strong and not-so-strong, and everything

in between. Volunteers ages 10 and older are encouraged to sign up in shifts from 9 a.m.- noon, 1-4 p.m., or all day. Juniors must be accompanied by an adult if under age 13.

An incredible continental breakfast and lunch are provided for decorators each day. A welcome and briefing are held at 9 a.m. on Friday and Saturday.

The Giving TreeTuesday, Dec. 1, through Wednesday, Dec. 16

For many years, MAC members’ gener-osity has meant a Christmas gift for thou-sands of children who otherwise might not receive anything. Starting Tuesday, Dec. 1, select a tag and return a gift no later than Wednesday, Dec. 16. The gifts are child-specific, so members are sharing both in the spirit of the season and in a special child’s delight.

Don’t miss one of the most magical evenings of the year at MAC. This year, the Holiday Decorating Committee has focused on holiday movie classics, and invites members to spend the evening at the club with favorite holiday characters and a fun-filled atmosphere. Festivities are ongoing from 4-8 p.m. and the annual Tree Lighting Ceremony takes place at 6:15 p.m. Activities include gingerbread house decorating (registration required), caroling, shopping at Mporium, cookies and hot chocolate, a magician, holiday balloon artist, and musical entertainment from the

Christmas-themed movie, decorate hol-iday ornaments, and have their picture taken with Santa Claus. Children can par-ticipate in a snowball fight; drink hot cocoa or climb the Indoor Rock Wall. Blast into the future of space age for the Family New Year’s Eve party. This year’s event features world-renowned Amazing Bubble Man, Louis Pearl, who has been known to “make wonderful things happen with airborne orbs of soap.”

A family-friendly buffet begins at 6 p.m., followed by a DJ who takes requests, and a midnight countdown and toast. Children can participate in party games, cosmic crafts and interstellar activities.
