The founder of the ensemble, Chico, is French with that of Moroccan origin, and an acclaimed legendary musician whose genius Gypsy vocal capabilities gave him a superior edge over many other Spanish peers. He was the founder of the Gypsy Kings, which made its presence felt on the international stages in the late 1970s and became one of the most popu-lar flamenco bands in the world and for good reason for his voice seemed to have spawned right from the orifices of the heart to seep through and pervade the soul of the audience. He was appointed as a UNESCO Artist for Peace and a curator of Gypsy culture and heritage in 1995.

Furat Qaddouri, the Sultan of Qanoon, and the French mu-sical ensemble Chico and the Gypsies will be working hand in hand in a live presentation. This spectacular perfor-mance will be playing an Andalusian rhythm that has the essence of the traditional Gypsy orchestra. This collabora-tion is aiming to produce and elevate a higher dimensional human epic with an impressive and unique mix of Arabic music styles. The soul of Qanoon combines with the power of the popular flamenco by the Spanish Gypsies and with the rhythms of Latin Pop and Rock. This performance is hop-ing to bring memories of the past, in the form of beautiful arrangement of melodies and awe-inspiring tones that will steal your heart away.

Furat Qaddouri is raised by a well-known family of musicians. He is the son of Hussain Qaddouri who was a famous chil-dren’s music composer, children’s music researcher of folk songs and rhythms and the dean of the Institute of Musical Studies in Baghdad. In addition, his brother, Kousai Qaddouri is a talented Cello player in the Budapest Festival Orchestra.

As a Qanoon scholar and player since the age of 6, he had a strong passion for creating something new and a desire to break free from the constraints of traditional Qanoon-play-ing and composition. Taking full advantage of his presence in Europe, he experimented on the Qanoon instrument and made a fusion with tunes and melodies from dif-ferent musical genres and cultures. He set up the benchmark of style by combining the Latin with Arabic rhythms and mixing saxophone with flute, guitar and piano. As a result, a new genre of music was born to his school - one that evidently has all the elements of success and unlimited dimensions of extraordinary creativity.
