Bob Burns Blinds - The history behind the name

Bob Burns Blinds is now in their third generation of blind manufacturing.

Bob Burns Blinds has come a long way since 1954, when Bob made his first Venetian blind in his

Edwardstown shed.

Finding a niche in the market, Bob set up a small workshop on South Road and started to

manufacture venetian blinds, roller blinds (then called Holland blinds), awnings, curtains, tracks,

and security doors. It wasn’t long ‘til the business grew to three generations involved in the

manufacturing of interior and exterior blinds as well as

Sunscreen Roller BlindsDo you need privacy during the day but have large windows with

views that you don’t necessarily want to block out?

To improve privacy and insulation combine fabrics in a double blind.

This is a slick solution providing double the benefits. Add a pelmet

So what is the difference?

Block out is a solid material with different

compositions which blocks out all light and

gives 100% privacy.

Light filtering allows natural light to come in,

whilst still providing privacy.

Sunscreen is polyester coated mesh. It comes

in 3%, 5% and 10% openness. Sunscreen

material restricts light and glare from coming

in but allows you to still see out depending

on where the light is.

Bob Burns Blinds roller blinds are designed to harmonise

in many different trims and fabrics ideal for either

contemporary or traditional aesthetics. Roller blinds are

a smart, inexpensive solution for any window, and offer

Roman BlindsRoman blinds provide a contemporary, elegant and

Cellular Blinds / Panel Glides

Cellular blinds are a versitile energy saving window furnishing with insulating

properties, designed to control temperature without compromising style.

Easy to operate, either by a cord & chain or spring, cellular blinds are available

in a range of colours and patterns. They are also available in light filtering and

blockout materials, with either single or double cell honey comb layers – this

makes them an excellent choice when insulating your home. Cellular blinds

can work with all different sizes and shapes of windows and can have the top

down and bottom up, standard cord control, spring operated or cord lock, &

Plantation Shutters

In recent years, plantation shutters have become an

Bob Burns Blinds offers plantation shutters that are

made from premium poplar or basswood, sourced from

sustainable forests. This is a low density and light coloured

hardwood timber. All our plantation shutters have a fine

texture and the lack of tint allows for the ultimate flawless

finish. Plantation shutters are also available with a rich

timber stain for those wanting to add a further touch of

class. Pack Paint for hardwearing & easy cleaning. They

look fantastic in any room.

Polyresin Shutters are the modern alternative to traditional

wooden shutters and are virtually maintenance free

extra stopping heights to maximise the function

of your verandah automatic awning.

Roller Shutters

Providing security against burglars and vandalism, whilst also protecting against

extreme weather such as high winds and heavy rain, roller shutters really do ensure

your home is kept as safe as possible. Available in cyclone and fire rated models.

Style wise, roller shutters are made from aluminium and come in a range of colours

therefore can be made to blend in with the style of your home. In addition to keeping

you safe they insulate your home from the heat and the cold.

You can choose to operate your roller shutters from inside your home, either

manually or on a fully automated basis. This can be with a 12v battery or solar

operated motors which is either hand remote controled or wall switch controlled.

doors. Fitted security doors are therefore an

excellent investment to keep you and your family

safe against any unwanted intruders.

Types of Mesh Available

Standard Mesh (wire) is fiberglass and gives protection

from flies and mossies

Tuff Mesh is a woven aluminium mesh which is strong

and durable.

RVM (restricted vision mesh) is a aluminium sheet with

slated holes for restricted vision as you can see out but

the visitor can’t see in.

Security & Safety

Child safety is very important to Bob burns Blinds & Inspire.

Cords and chains can be a potential hazard to small children who may become entangled

in them. There are several safety devices available to either remove the cord loop or limit

its access when selecting new blinds, you can ask advice from the consultants about

these products or other options instead of cords to operate the blinds.

Things to remember if you have babies or young children in the home.

- Make sure your children cannot reach any blind or curtain cords.

- Make sure the bottom of any blind or curtain cord is at least 160cm above the floor.

- Babies cots and children’s beds should be positioned well away from windows and all

blind cords.

- Make sure your child cannot climb on furniture and reach blind or curtain cords.
