Abstract
This report describeshe

In light of the special
demands,

that a new weaponwas needed. his firearm, the MAGAL, can be classified s
ar\ utban weapon, as this is the environment n which it was designed o be
used.
Historical

The development f the MAGAL, together

Introduction

Rarely, f ever, has a weaponbeen designed

work. The
prohibitive
costsof weapon'sdevelopment nd the small market

opposed o the military

ANES InfantrvWeapon, o reference as ound o a long-range

designed pecijically for
police
work.
Development f the MAGAL
The police requirements or an urban fireman were supplied o the Israeli Military
Industries
lMI),
which developed new weapon, he MAGAL. The
designof the
MAGAL was basedon the Israeli
GALIL assaultdfle. also manufactued bv the IMI.

,2).
Arninunition for
the MAGAL is the sameas or the AmericanMl Carbine ifle. i.e..

assault ifle, which in tum,
rcsembles the
Kalachnikov AK47 assault rifle. Disassembly and assembly
are,
therefore, very simple
