Without a clear vision, it is impossible to attain a goal. For this reason, the Entrepreneurship and Marketing Club has been revived and refocused to grow and establish its presence. The mission for the club is to provide students with hands on experiences that will teach them effective marketing techniques of products, services, and themselves by engaging in entrepreneurial ventures and networking with business professionals both on and off campus. Throughout the course of the fall 2015 semester, the club members have been working diligently to support the club’s mission and make a lasting impression on campus. The success of the club relies solely on its members. Each member worked hard to ensure the prosperity of the club. They participated in many activities throughout the course of the semester to establish presence on campus. Getting involved with Homecoming was the first step in promotion for the club. It was represented both in coronation and the parade by Mr. and Miss EMC, Myles Hester and Ashley Henderson. As Mr. and Miss EMC, they served as the face of EMC during homecoming, and were charged to represent the club in a professional manner. EMC also supported the School of Business and Economics with their Youth Entrepreneurship Day. Youth from ages 7-13 went through a six week training where they learned the basics of becoming an entrepreneur. At the end of the six weeks, they were given the opportunity to set up a lemonade stand at two locations in Fayetteville and sell their products to the community. Although EMC did not sponsor this event, current EMC president Ashley Henderson and the 2014-2015 EMC president Tamri Graves attended the event to support the aspiring entrepreneurs and to impart much needed wisdom. Towards the end of October, EMC sponsored the Bronco Idea Challenge. This challenge allows any student, regardless of major, to submit their business ideas in the form of an elevator pitch. There were 20 brilliant ideas submitted, but Ife Presswood was able to secure 1 st prize with her business idea of an online shopping experience for full figured women. In addition to bragging rights for the year, Ife was also presented with a $500

There were 20 brilliant ideas submitted, but Ife Presswood was able to secure 1st prize with her business idea of an online shopping experience for full figured women. In addition to bragging rights for the year, Ife was also presented with a $500 cash prize. This event will be held every year, so if you are a student of FSU, start preparing your pitch for the next round in October of 2016.

Another notable event for EMC was the partnership with Harvest Family Church in for Feeding 1,000. During this event, EMC worked with the faculty, staff, and students of Fayetteville State University to collect food items and donations towards a goal of feeding 1,000 families in need during the Thanksgiving holiday season. EMC would like to extend its sincerest gratitude for all who contributed and a special thank you to Aramark, who donated enough food to feed approximately 250 families. In all, EMC was able to feed close to 300 families, and Harvest exceeded their goal of raising enough food to feed 1,000 families.

While the Entrepreneurship and Marketing Club accomplish great things this semester, it is only the beginning. They have already begun making plans for spring 2016. EMC is proud to announce their first EMC week March 13-19. Each day during this week, the club will host an event and highlight one deserving student entrepreneur. Some of the events include an Entrepreneurship Expo, Resumania, Financial Literacy Workshop, a 3-3 Basketball tournament, Life-Size game day, and ending with a celebration to congratulate all of the hard work of EMC members and sponsorship partners.
