Target Gender• This magazine is for men because, they have huge interests in

steam engines when they were young to see the train puffing by in the town or the countryside and the uses of the colours of the engines with no women colours on them.

Target Age• My guest in the magazine would be the age 65+ because they

still prefer steam locomotives rather than diesel and electric engines today and they would like to see them still running around the country and that’s is the era which they grow up with.

Style and content • On page 62 of Steam & Heritage, the reporters always tell us

that an engine was going to be mended or returns to work on the left hand side of the page. Each articles always be in colours so that the readers won’t think that they are in the same place. It is small blocks of text on every page with fewer small photos throughout the whole magazine and it is all wordy

Images• Here is the picture on page 15 with 2 engines build in the 19th Century on a rail

tour in their original rail company colours. This photo was taken in April 1965. the magazine always show both classic & modern pictures in good colours in perfect locations. It grabs a lot of attention. The images that are through out the magazine are linked to the appropriate text such as an image of a train in the 1920’s would be accompanied by the relevant text. The photos always have a lot of detail so that you have to study them more to appreciate them.

Advertising• The Railway Magazine always sells books, dvds, models, places

to visit during events on preserved railways, rail journeys and museums. This magazine only focus on locomotives, rail lines and history instead of some other things like food.

Editor’s Letter• The editor always welcome the readers to the magazine. He

often tell us the news & events on the magazine but he always forgets to signed his signature after he finishes writing. I never read the editor’s letter because I don’t have any interest in it. I always buy the magazine which has good pictures in it which are of interest to me and make me purchase the magazine. The current editor Nick Pigott has done his job for 19 years.
