Kerrang

Kerrang is a UK based music magazine centred around Rock, Metal and Punk music. Its first issue was back in 1981 and has gone on to become the most popular and well recognizable music magazine out of any genre.Kerrang appeals to young teenage audiences, it often has lots of things scattered on the page with lots of images and little text, they do this because it appeals to the young audiences they don’t want to see lots of information but they like the images.

Direct Address teases readerIn order to compete with competition I am going to have to use them same techniques magazines like kerrang use. These include large dominant images, flashy bright colours, teasers about trending artist, separate sell lines. All of these make the reader look at the cover and want to read more e.g. Direct Address and Rhetorical Questions.

contentsThe contents page of Kerrang seems to also be overwhelmed by images relating to what's inside the magazine. The page is densely packed meaning I will also have to put a lot of information teasing my magazine.

Double Page Spread (DPS)

Uses words like “Exclusive”, only Kerrang has this

Kerrang uses the topic of MCR for their DPS because no other magazine says they have the information that Kerrang has, that’s why they use words such as “Exclusive”. That is why in my magazine my double page spread will also focus around something like that and will also have very little text and will focus more on images.
