proposal• The genre for the magazine I am making is rock and is aimed at men between the age of 16 and 26. The music magazine which has

inspired me to base my magazine around rock is the Kerrang magazine. The masthead of my magazine will be eye – catching by making the masthead in big and bold letters , and adding a colour scheme where the target audience will see it, and instantly recognise that it’s a rock magazine.

• My magazine will have a contents page, to tell the readers what to expect on each page. My contents page will include columns of what will be in the magazine, this will summarise what certain pages are about. I will also include pictures of rock artists, it will talk about new media and how people can follow the page on Facebook and Twitter. I will also include subscription information in order to show people that they can order this magazine weekly. My magazine will also include a strapline to introduce the main page. My magazine will have a huge anchoring image which will dominate the front page to attract the eyes of my target audience. The mise –en- scene of this magazine will relate to rock with the clothing and dark colour scheme.

• Audience: My target audience is aimed at men between the age of 16 – 26. my audience may be aspirers as they would want to purchase the certain fashion style if they are really into rock , for example they may buy, black clothes and look the look. However some people may be individualists as not everyone would purchase the fashion style of a rock star but some individuals would.

• Institution: The magazine publishing house that would be publishing my rock magazine would be IPC media as they have yet to publish a rock magazine. I chose this publishing house as they haven’t published a magazine which is based on rock.

• Representation: I will represent my artists by making them look how an actual rock artist is supposed to look. I would dress them up wearing black clothes, slightly ripped jeans, wearing an earing and have different coloured hair(wig) for example red. They would pose holding a mic in their hand, act like they're shouting into it, another pose would be making the artist hold an electric guitar, so create the image that this artist is a rock star. This reinforces the genre as this represents all the visions that come to peoples mind when they hear the word rock star.

I will choose on of these variety of colours to match my magazine and the rock genre. I chose these colours because they will all be eye catching and are the suitable colours which relate to rock. They are all appropriate colours for the target audience ; they are not childish and are colours for an older age but also suit the male audience aswell as the potential female audience. It is more likely that I will choose either the combination of black and blue or black and purple, as they match the main images aswell as the context of the actually magazine. All of these potential background colours have their own connotations. I chose black because it matches the rock genre as it is normally seen dark and serious. I also chose purple to combine with black as the colour purple represents power, ambition and independence. In addition to this, the other background colour that is a potential option is blue. This colour represents

Promotional methods• There a variety of ways I can promote my magazine.

A could promote my magazine but inviting a variety of bands and famous people to the launch in order for it to get a good name. In addition to this I can create a website and have a Facebook pages and twitter feed, also different pages on all of the popular social media websites so my potential customers become aware that this magazine exists.

I can also advertise my magazine on popular television channels to raise awareness but also to catch the potential customer. This way of advertisement can consist of placing the magazine on the tv channels and placing my magazine front cover on billboards and side adverts for example, a bus stop as many people use public transport.

Finally I can promote my magazine in other magazines published by the same companies. This would be extraordinary as the company that would be publishing has yet to publish a rock genre magazine, so this would be a huge way of promoting my magazine.

Use of new media I will use variety of new media in order promote my magazine and allow the customers to be aware that my magazine exists in order to gain customers .

I can use a mix of new and old media for example, I can promote my magazine on different websites including new and popular social media websites. My magazine can also be promoted on different apps that people use on their mobile devices.

Along with this I can get my magazine advertised on the radio and on the side of buses etc.
