Barring all disasters, Dubais Victory Team looks set to lit its sixth European

title at this weekends Romanian Grand Prix, round ve o the Class 1 World

Powerboat Championship and the ourth and nal round o the Class 1 European

    Championship.

Mohammed Al Marri and Nadir Bin Hendi, who lead the World Championship by

18 points and carry a ten point advantage in the European standings, will line

up in Victory 1 on Lake Siutghiol, Mamaia on Sunday or the 21 lap, 94.77Nm

Romanian Grand Prix as the clear avourites to lit the rst silverware o the year

having dominated the rst hal o the season, with Bin Hendi taking three wins

rom our starts, one with Ari Al Zaeen, out injured ater round one, and two

    with Al Marri.

The immediate challenge to Victory 1 are their team-mates, Abdullah Al Mehairbi

and deending World and European Champion, Jean-Marc Sanchez, who have

taken three podiums this season, out-gunning their team-mates last time out.

But Victory 7s throttleman, Sanchez, the winner in Romania last year, knows that

they simply have to nish ahead o Victory 1 with several boats between them

and an 11 point advantage i he is to retain his title a tall order.

However, should either o the Victory outts alter or hit trouble, several boats lie

in wait with an outside tilt at the European crown. Jotuns Inge Brigt Aarbakke

and Jorn Tandberg, who ended Victorys winning streak with a sensational win

in the BMW Norwegian Grand Prix, are the most improving team this season and

now the leading European challenger to the might o the Middle East teams.

The International Oshore Team Association (IOTA) has joined the Qatar Marine Sports Federation (QMSF) in launching Class 1

or Dhreima an initiative to support the Qatar Orphan Foundation.

Sheikh Hassan Bin Jabor Al-Thani, President o the QMSF and IOTA, was instrumental in encouraging Class 1 a sport in which he has

been a leading gure since 2003 to become an active vehicle to raise awareness o the oundation. In presenting this initiative I

wanted to emphasise how sport, in whatever orm or however extreme, can support the values and the importance o the activities o

an organisation such as the Qatar Orphan Foundation.

The association between Class 1 and Dhreima will be developed over a series o activities that will take place at races during the course

o the 2008 season, with the purpose o highlighting the activities o Dhreima and nding synergy with similar organisations based in

countries that host Class 1 GP events.

The Qatar Orphan Foundation - Dhreima was launched on 10 June 2003 under the

patronage o Her Highness Sheikha Moza Bint Nasser Al-Misnad, Chairman o the Supreme

Council. We in the Qatari Orphan Foundation believe that our community values o

solidarity, compassion and cooperation make us truly capable o providing all the

support the children need, said Nabil Ali Bin Ali, Chairman o the Dhreima Board,

adding. And we are extremely happy that the Class 1 Championship has elected

    to support the Foundation.
