Connection to network architectures

The addition of a type III PCMCIAcommunication card (or a PC ISAbus card for a TXBT-Fgraphic station) to XBT-F andTXBT-F terminals with graphicscreen means that they can beintegrated in single or multinetwork architectures:

i Fipway networki Modbus Plus networki Ethernet TCP/IP network

This last network type requires theuse of TXBT-F graphic stations(network module on ISA bus ortype III PCMCIA card).Depending on applicationrequirements, the following can beconnected on the same network:

i One XBT-F or TXBT-F terminalwith graphic screen, which hasa multistation PLC view

i Several XBT-F and TXBT-Fterminals, which are totallyindependentEach terminal is assigned tocontrolling specific networkstations.

Open access to Web architectures

TXBT-F graphic stations can be configured on the Intranet network, using the Monitor Client Web Supervisionsoftware option, as Client stations of a Monitor PRO supervisor.

Integration of the Premium PLC coprocessor in TXBT-F graphic stations

Graphic station TXBT-F027 isequipped with an Atrium PCX 5710 coprocessor on one of its twoISA bus slots.

This compact, cost-effectivesolution provides the following asstandard:

Premium automation platformMagelis XBT-H/P/E/HM/PM display units and terminals

General

XBT-H/P/E display units and terminals with alphanumericscreen are used to represent messages and variables.Various keys can be used to modify variables, control thedevice or browse in a dialogue application. For models which have a printer output, the display unitsand terminals can also be used to print alarm messagesand form pages.

XBT-HM/PM terminals with matrix screen can also beused to display bitmap images and animated bargraphand gauge objects.

All the Magelis display units and terminals withalphanumeric and matrix screens have the same userinterface : function keys, service keys, numeric oralphanumeric keys.

Magelis display units and terminals can be configuredusing the same XBT-L100i software in a Windowsenvironment.

For terminals with an alphanumeric screen, XBT-L100isoftware uses the concept of pages : each page can beviewed in its entirety. A 2 or 4-line window, depending onthe model, visualises what will appear on the productscreen.

For XBT-HM terminals with a matrix screen, XBT-L100isoftware offers up to 8 lines of 40 characters, and animatedbargraph and gauge objects.

XBT-H/P/E/HM/PM terminals communicate with PLCsvia an integrated point-to-point or multidrop serial link.

The communication protocols used are those of SchneiderPLCs as well as those of the other main market suppliers.

XBT-H/P/HM/PM terminals also communicate on theAS-i bus using a module 22.5 mm wide.

Communication

Premium automation platformMagelis terminals with graphic screen

General

Operator dialogue terminals with graphic screen areavailable with 5.7" or 10.4" monochrome or colour screen, with a keypad, a touch-sensitive screen or a screen andtouch-sensitive keys.

XBT-F graphic screen terminals are specially designedfor graphic operator dialogue functions.

TXBT-F graphic stations operate under Windows 95,enabling them to access other control system functions.

All Magelis graphic screen terminals have the same userinterface : static and dynamic function keys, service keys, alphanumeric keys, touch-sensitive keys.

All Magelis graphic screen terminals can be configuredusing the same XBT-L100i software in a Windowsenvironment.

XBT-L100i software provides graphic screen terminalswith a library of animated graphic objects such asbargraphs, gauges, selectors, potentiometers and trendingcurves.

A library of bitmap symbols is also available withXBT-L100i software.

The variable for animating an object can be selecteddirectly from a list of symbols given by the PL7 or Conceptsoftware.

The application program for the graphic terminals isstored on a PCMCIA memory card.

XBT-F and TXBT-F graphic screen terminals communicatewith PLCs via an integrated point-to-point or multidropserial link, or via a fieldbus with a type III PCMCIA card.

The communication protocols are those used by SchneiderElectric PLCs as well as those of the other main marketsuppliers.

Functions

Functions

XBT-F and TXBT-F operator dialogue terminals with graphic screen have the following functions :i Display of animated synoptic screens, control, modification of numeric and alphanumeric variablesi Display of a service line (status and alarm bar) with the current timei Dynamic visualisation of operating data (setpoints, measurements, recipes, maintenance messages) and process

errorsi Control via dynamic or static function keysi Scaling of analogue variablesi Realtime and trending curvesi Alarm log and management of alarm groupsi Management of help pages, form pages, recipe pagesi Pages can be called up by the user or by the PLCi Three levels of passwordi Printing of form pages, date and time-stamped log and alarmsi Communication protocol application support in the type II PCMCIA application memory card

The role of the function keys is defined using the XBT-L100ii software. Modifications cannot be made during operation. Each function key can be associated with an internal bit of the PLC application.

Static function keys

Static function keys are defined for the whole application. They can be used for :i Accessing a pagei Latching memory bitsi Toggling memory bits (ON/OFF)Static keys can be marked with re-usable labels.

Dynamic function and touch-sensitive keys

Dynamic function and touch-sensitive keys are associated with a page. Their role can therefore differ from one page toanother. They can perform the following functions :i Accessing a pagei Latching memory bitsi Toggling memory bits (ON/OFF)i Accessing the modification of a valuei Direct writingEach dynamic key and touch-sensitive key can be assigned a label or icon illustrating its function. On touch-sensitive terminals, the touch-sensitive zones function in a similar way to the dynamic keys on keypad terminals.

Service keys

Service keys are the “arrow” keys and the control keys combined, and are used for modifying the parameters of the controlsystem.

The control keys are used to perform the following actions :ENTER Confirm a selection or entry, acknowledge an alarmMOD Change to page, password, field or graphic object entry modeESC Cancel an entry, suspend or stop a current action. Display previous pages in succession. Quit the alarm

displaySHIFT Access the second of the dual key functionsMENU Access a menu containing the operating functions which do not have direct access keysHOME Return to the entry point of the current menu. Example : return to the first page of the applicationSYST Access confidential mode which contains password protected implementation functionsALARM View the alarmsPRINT Print

The “arrow” keys can be used to :i Change page within a menui Change fields on a pagei Select an object on a pagei Move within a pagei Increment a digit variablei Select a value from a list of choicesi Increment or decrement the value of a variable field,

when used with the SHIFT keyi Change page (next/previous) using the SHIFT/+1 or

SHIFT/-1 keys with TXBT-F graphic stations.

Presentation of XBT-L1003/L1004 software

XBT-L1003/L1004 development software is used with the whole range of Magelis terminals to create operator dialogueapplications designed for controlling automated systems.

XBT-L1003/L1004 software runs on FT2100 terminal or PC compatibles equipped with Windows 95 or NT 4.i operatingsoftware.Applications created using XBT-L1003/L1004 software are independent of the protocol used; it is possible to use the sameoperator dialogue application with all the different PLCs offered by the main market suppliers.

Configuration

XBT-L1003/L1004 software is the only configuration software package for the Magelis range.

It is used to create various types of page easily :i Application pages (can be interlinked)i Alarm pagesi Help pagesi Recipe pagesi EtcThese pages can contain all sorts of variables and graphic objects, which are either predefined in the XBT-L1003/L1004software, or created using other applications and then imported (bitmap format, etc). Various properties can be assignedto them : min-max limits, colour, movement, weighting, etc.

XBT-L1003/L1004 software can be used to configure the function keys to activate commands on the machine or callapplication pages. It can also be used on the graphic terminals to import the PL7 or Concept PLC symbols database.Sophisticated diagnostic functions are available on the TXBT-F graphic stations.

XBT-L1003/L1004 software functions

Simulation on PC compatible

XBT-L1003/L1004 software offers the option of checkingall your operator dialogue applications from the designoffice without the use of graphic terminals and PLCs.

The following can be tested using the simulation programand the keyboard on a PC compatible :

i Navigation between pagesi Entry of variablesi Display of variablesi Simulation of an alarm

Using the function keys

The operator terminals and graphic stations have two types of function key : static keys and dynamic keys.

1 Static keys

These are defined for the whole application.

They may have the following functions :- page access- latching memory bits- toggling memory bits (ON/OFF)

2 Dynamic keys

These are associated with one page. Their role can bereassigned or changed from one page to another.

They may have the following functions :- page access- latching memory bits- toggling memory bits (ON/OFF)- positioning on a data entry field

A label (bitmap image) is assigned to each key whichmay vary from page to page.

On touch-sensitive terminals, the touch-sensitive zones access the same functions as dynamic keys on keypad terminals.

XBT-L1003/L1004 software functions (continued)

Screen windows

XBT-L1003/L1004 software is used to design page contents in WYSIWYG format (What You See Is What You Get) :anything created using the software is displayed in exactly the same way on the operator dialogue terminal screen. Toassist the designer, the software offers a display unit or a virtual screen depending on the type of terminal.

Model pages (1)

Model pages, created by the designer, are pages whose graphic format (text, images or static objects) applies to all other pages in the same family.

There are three types of model page :i Applicationi Alarmi Help

Alarm pages

Alarm pages indicate any faults in the process. The advantage of alarm pages lies in their event-triggered display :i During operation

- When a fault occurs, it is often the consequence of other faults. The prioritylevels enable the terminal to display the most important fault, ie. the onepresenting the highest risk to the process.- The occurrence of any fault is time and date stamped.

i During maintenance operations- The terminal memorises the faults in sequence (log) making it easy to findthe cause of the fault.

Help pages and windows (1)

Help pages and windows can be associated with application or alarm pages.Help windows can be associated with any variable field.

Functions

Functions

Display

Messages can be displayed in single or double size. Eachcharacter can be redefined by the application designer. The newly defined characters become an integral part ofthe application.A message can be static or composed of a dynamic value. This dynamic variable is displayed in numeric form. In thecase of installation using MMI 17 software, this variablecan also be displayed in graphic (bargraph) or text form(character string).

Entry

The operator can modify those values which are displayedin reverse video on the screen. The operator moves theselection window (using the arrow keys) to access thevalue to be modified. Modification mode is accessed bypressing the MOD key. The operator can make the entry viathe numeric keypad, or by incrementing/decrementing usingthe up and down arrow keys, or by choosing from apreconfigured list (defined using MMI 17 software).

Fault management

Alarm type data is time-stamped, displayed and recordedby the operator panel. Any appearance of a new alarmactivates the alarm relay on the panel. This relay cancontrol an audible or visual warning. If the alarm has beendefined as priority, it is displayed in overprint mode on thescreen. Pressing any key clears the information from thescreen.

The active alarms list is accessed by pressing the ALT and ACK keys simultaneously. All alarms present are displayedand time-stamped. Pressing the local acknowledge key acknowledges the alarms present one by one and deactivatesthe alarm relay. The alarm log can be accessed by pressing the ALT and ACK keys again. Pressing them a third time returns the operatorto the process operating screens.

Logs

Two log memories are installed in each CCX 17 panel. One log relates to faults, while the other relates to all actionsperformed by the operator. Any modification of a value by the operator is time-stamped and recorded. The faults log canbe transferred, via X-Way, in Excel format, to a PC compatible for sorting or statistical processing

Manual controls

The manual control keys located on either side of thedisplay can be assigned to either :

i Internal bits of the PLC. These assignments can beredefined during operation (the data istransferred to the PLC on request).

i Discrete PLC inputs. These are connected to the solidstate outputs on the panel.

Printing

A printer port, available on certain operator panels, enables the alarm log, the operator action log and faults to be printedas they occur.

Functions, specifications

Software installation

Using MMI 17 software

MMI 17 software, running under Windows, is used to create the MMI applications loaded in the CCX 17 industrial operatorpanels. These applications consist of :i The operator panel configurationi Status and alarm messages (screen creation under the WYSIWYG editor)i Message groups (enables the screen to be divided into “independent" display zones)i Associating CCX 17 operator panel control keys with PLC bit objects

The basic principle of PLC/operator panel exchanges is mailbox communication. The mailbox is defined by a zone of PLCinternal words, %MWi, which serves as an exchange between the two devices and is scanned by the CCX 17 operatorpanel.

Using PL7 Micro/Junior/Pro software

PL7 Micro/Junior/Pro software includes MMI management functions. These integrated functions authorize control ofCCX 17 operator panels without using MMI 17 software.Status and alarm messages together with all parameters are created using screens predefined in the PL7 Micro/Junior/Pro software and stored in the PLC data memory (%KWi constant words or %MWi internal words).PL7 Micro/Junior/Pro software also enable CCX 17 operator panels to be used with control functions (withoutprogramming the PLC application program).
